Abstract
PURPOSE:To moderately wind and optical submarine cable around a joint box, by using a boot insert which can be fixed to a protector by a soft structure, so that the boot insert itself is bend slightly. CONSTITUTION:A boot insert is constituted of a ring 5 (the first ring of a rigid structure) of an insert body, the second ring 5a of a rigid structure, and a wire rod 5b. This boot insert is fixed to a protector 8 by a rigid structure, and the wire rod 5b is placed so as to surround its cable. In this way, in case of winding on a cable drum surface 1, the wire rod 5b of a soft structure part is bent at an almost uniform curvature against vertical external force to the operating shaft, no local buckling occurs, and its winding is executed moderately and smoothly as shown in the figure.
