Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the characteristics of an antenna in a short time by sweeping the frequency of an electric wave transmitted by the antenna to be measured repeatedly in a prescribed band and by rotating a probe synchronously therewith in the direction of a plane of polarization while making the same conduct a scanning movement. CONSTITUTION:Feeding of power is made from a transmitter 12 to the antenna 11 to be measured and the frequency thereof is swept repeately in a prescribed band of measurement. Meanwhile, the probe 16 supported by a rotating mechanism 15 driven by a rotating device 13 is provided on a plane 14 opposite to the surface of the antenna and it is rotated in the direction of its plane of polarization opposite to the surface of the antenna, while being made to conduct scanning movement on the plane 14 by a moving device 17 synchronously with the rotation. A signal of the probe 16 is received by a receiver 18 and given to a signal processing device 19, wherein the phase and amplitude of an electric field are processed by operation. Accordingly, the characteristics of the antenna in a desired frequency band can be measured separately by one scanning and thereby a required time for measurement can be lessened sharply.
