CONSTITUTION:A PCM signal inputted from a terminal 1 is made to branch into two, and one of them is inputted to an electric signal/optical signal converting circuit 3. Also, a subcarrier wave modulated by a modulator 6 in accordance with a sub-signal inputted from a terminal 2 is inputted to the circuit 3 in the same way. Both of them are synthesized, are converted to an optical signal and are sent to an optical synthesizer 7. The other PCM signal is converted to an optical signal by an electric signal/optical signal converting circuit 4, and is transmitted to the optical synthesizer 7. If the circuit 3 becomes faulty, a driving signal is outputted from a driving circuit 14 by a signal of the circuit 3, and a contact of a switch is connected to the lower side by driving the switch 5. In this way, the modulator 6 is connected with the circuit 4, and a subcarrier wave is superposed on a main signal of the circuit 4 side.
