Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a weld defect through detection of both an arc noise and a signal from a weld defect part, by a method wherein an input from an acoustic detecting sensor is cut during a period starting from a point of time when a secondary side voltage or a current of a welder attains a set value, and the cut is released at a given freqency. CONSTITUTION:A plural number of acoustic detecting sensors 3 is arranged at a given position against a torch 2 advancing along a beveling 1 to catch an acoustic signal generated from a defect part in a weld 4, and the signal is analyzed to detect a defect part. After a secondary side voltage or a current of a welder attains a set value, an input from the acoustic detecting sensor 3 is cut by a gate C for prohibiting it for a period of a half period +alpha of the secondary side voltage or current period, and the gate C is previously released at a specified frequency. This catches only a signal, entering at above a given level d, as a defect wave b to detect a weld defect through processing of the defective wave b.
