Abstract

PURPOSE:To smooth plated surfaces and obtain a metal hot-dipped steel plate with rugged patterns of sharp contrast by applying hot dipping on a cold-rolled steel plate with rugged patterns and screwing down the patterned surface with small diameter rolls while supporting the rear surface with rolls. CONSTITUTION:Hot dipping of zinc or the like is applied on a cold-rolled steel plate S provided with rugged patterns, thence the steel plate is subjected to an alloying treatment. The surface of the plate S having no patterns is supported with metal made support rolls 11 or rolls provided with rubber linings or the like 113 on these, and the rugged pattern surface is brought in abutment on screw down rolls 12 of a small diameter. The steel plate is passed between these rolls under application of low screw-down force. Thereby, the plating metal 1 on the top surface of projecting parts 2 is plastically deformed, and only the plating layer of the parts 2 is smoothed without causing plastic deformation of the entire part of the steel plate S. According to this method, the contours of the parts 2 are made sharp and the difference in the luster between the recesses and the projecting parts is intensified without degrading the difference in height of the recesses and projecting parts.
