Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to distinguish address information and additional information from each other easily by the signal amplitude level, by making the optical disc to have a strucdure, where metallic films different in reflection factor are piled on the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The optical disc is formed by vapor depositing or coating with the metallic thin film 4 on the substrate 1, (h) indicates the depth of pit 3' formed in address part I, and 6' indicates the pit formed in additional recording part II. Metallic materials are used in which reflection factor T4 of upper-layer metallic film 4 of the optical disc is larger than reflection facdor T5 of lower-layer metallic film 5. With such structure, detection signal 11 due to the reflection light for passage through pit 3' is based on the phase type of depth (h), the level of the signal becomes smaller than the level of reflection factor T4 and becomes the level of reflection factor T6; and contrarily, in the variable density type, a signal increased from reflection factor T5 to reflection factor T4 in the position of pit 6' is obtained.
