Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound having improved impact resistance, by polymerizing preliminarily propylene, etc. in the presence of catalyst containing TiCl3 and an organic aluminum compound having a specific catalytic activity until a prepolymer has a specific melt index, followed by copolymerizing propylene with ethylene.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene or a mixed monomer of propylene with other olefin is polymerized preliminarily in the presence of a catalyst containing TiCl3 and an organic aluminum compound having a catalytic activity at least 2,000g polymer/g. TiCl3/hr until 1W100g prepolymer per g TiCl3 is formed and the prepolymer has a melt index not less than 100g/10mm. Propylene and ethylene are fed and copolymerized in the presence of the prepared catalyst-prepolymer, to give the desired copolymer.
