Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce water thrust in the axial direction at all stages of a multistage hydraulic machine by putting the inner back pressure chamber at high pressure stage in communication with the side pressure chamber at low pressure chamber, and also the outer back pressure chamber at high pressure stage with the side pressure chamber at the same stage with respective tubings.
CONSTITUTION: The inner back pressure chamber 4a at high pressure stage is in communication with the side pressure chamber 5b at low pressure stage through a line 15, while the outer back pressure chamber 3a at high pressure stage with the side pressure chamber 5a at the same stage through a line 16. The static pressure in the inner back pressure chamber 4a at high pressure stage sinks, under operating condition, owing to the line 15 while the static pressure in the side pressure chamber 5b rises up, approaching each other. Likewise, the static pressure in the outer back pressure chamber 3a at high pressure stage sinks while that in the side pressure chamber 5a rises up, approaching each other. As this change reduces the application of water thrust in the axial direction to a runner, and the difference between static pressures in the chambers in communication through a line is comparatively small, generation of vibrations and noise at the lines is prevented.
