Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to dry printing paper effectively by use of a direct flame type drying gas burner, by employing an arrangement in which printing paper is dried by blowing flame onto the paper after the film of air over the surface of printing paper is blown off by high-speed air stream formed on both sides of combustion flame.
CONSTITUTION: In case that a gas burner of this invention is used, for instance, for direct-flame drying of the strip of printing paper in a rotary printing machine, high-pressure air supplied from an air supply pipe 3 issues once into a pressure equalizing chamber 6, in which pressure is made uniform throughout the entire space, and then ejected to the outside from air ports 9. Air thus ejected from air ports 9 passes through a flame hole surface 8 and impringes onto the inclined surface 11 of a guide member 10, so that the air flow is deflected inwards in the manner of embracing combustion flame from opposite sides. Air thus heated to a high temperature by the combustion flame is blown onto the surface of printing paper A. By thus blowing flame onto the surface of printing paper A, the film of air over the surface of printing paper A is blown off by the high-temperature, high-speed air stream and flame is blown forcibly onto paper A independently of the paper feeding speed, so that paper A can be dried rapidly.
