Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of the gel layer on the surface of the membrane and keep the filtration capability of the filter device for a long period of time by strikingly applying a liquid to be supplied in which compressed air or a gas, e.g., CO2, N2, etc., is mixed in fine pubbles onto the surface of the membrane of the flat membrane type ultrafiltration device being operated.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid to be treated is introduced from a liquid supply inlet 4, passed through the prefilter 2 by the pump P, and then directed to the flat membrane type ultrafiltration device 1, and at the same time compressed air is sent into the device 1 from the compressed air supply inlet 7 and mixed in the liquid in the form of bubbles through the inlet 4. In this case, when the liquid for which oxidation must be avoided is treated, CO2 or N2 gas is mixed instead of the compressed air. By strikingly applying the bubbles of the gas onto the surface of the membrane of the flat membrane type ultrafiltration device 1 all the time, the lowering of the filtering capability of the device due to the formation of gel layer of condensates on the surface of the membrane can be prevented.
