Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten supercharging efficiency in the slow running region of an engine and improve a starting property, climbing performance, etc., by directly or indirectly inject air into a compressor in the slow running region to increase the revolution speed of a supercharger.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine is running, the turbine 8 of a supercharger 6 is rotated by the exhaust gas of the engine to drive a compressor 7 to pressurize sucked air. If the engine is running in a low speed region, a controller 17 transmits a valve opening instruction signal to a solenoid valve 15 on the basis of the output signal of a revolution speed sensor 16 to open the valve 15 to supply air from an air tank 13 to an air nozzle 12 through pipe 14 and the valve 15. An air turbine 9 directly coupled to the main shaft of the supercharger 6 is driven by the air ejected from the nozzle 12 to increase the speed of the supercharger 6 to heighten supercharging efficiency.
