Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform color image pickup operation with high limit resolution through simple constitution by providing a rotatable light-transmissive plate in front of a color filter and by rotating and displacing the light-transmissive plate corresponding to every field. CONSTITUTION:The image of an object 11 is projected on a monoplane solid image pickup element 15 by way of an image pickup lens system 12, a light-transmissive plate 13 rotatable an axis crossing the optical axis of the lens system at right angles, and a color filter 14. As the color filter 14, a stripe filter with a lateral array of alternate primary-color elements where the three primary colors are transmitted corresponding to longitudinal picture elements of the elelment 15 is used. Then, the light-transmissive plate 13 is rotated and displaced corresponding to every field to vibrate finely the object image on the element 15 at right angles to the stripe direction of the color filter 14. Thus, an odd-numbered field and even-numbered field have a 3/2-pitch shift in object image position in comparison with the picture- element pitch of the element 15, and consequently a picture sampled at 3/2 pitches with respect to the primary colors is observed.
