Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the miniaturization of a focus detector by eliminating the need for a mechanical scanning mechanism by scanning an image pattern fully electrically. CONSTITUTION:The image sensor means equipped with the photodetection part composed of an array of many small photodetectors P1-Pn and electronic time-series output means 1 and 2 which output output signals of photodetectors P1-Pn in time series responding to an external control signal scans the detected image of an object obtained through image-formation optical system L. A scanning signal obtained at this time is supplied to signal variation detecting circuits 5, 6 and 7 to extract variation in the scanning signal and information on the extracted variation is integrated by integrating circuit 9 to obtain information on the image forming state of the detected image.
