Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to effect combustion generating bright flames by a method wherein a secondary fuel gas is supplied from the tangential direction at the down-stream side of a combustion chamber to thereby generate swirling streams of the gas and a part of the gas is forced to be thermally decomposed to produce soot as a result of its contact with the refractoty wall of the combustion chamber during its swirling motions.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided, at the upstream side of the combustion chamber made of a refractory material 2, a primary combustion gas generating section 3 comprized of a gas injecting section 5 having a flame keeping section 4 at the top end thereof and a primary air passage 6 arranged on the outer periphery of the gas injecting section 5. Further, on the downstream side of the combustion chamber there is formed a secondary fuel gas injecting section 7 from which the secondary fuel gas is injected into the combustion chamber 1. The injecting section 7 is so constructed that it is in communication with a passage 8 for the secondary fuel gas flowing around the outer periphery of the downstream side of the combustion chamber 1. With the above structure, the secondary fuel gas is caused to swirl along the refractory inner wall of the combustion chamber 1 so that a part of the gas is thermally decomposed to produce soot, and the soot thus produced is mixed with the secondary air 9 and the primary fuel gas to be then burnt with the generation of bright flames.
