Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce the titled resin material having good resistance to heat discoloration, by polymerizing a monomer composed mainly of methyl methacrylate in the presence of an org. compd. contg. Cu<2+>, a compd. contg. a P-O-H linkage and a dialkyl peroxide. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. Methyl methacrylate alone, or a polymerizable unsaturated monomer mixt. contg. 50wt% or more methyl methacrylate or a polymerizable material composed of a partial polymer thereof, is bulk-polymerized or cast- polymerized in the presence of a mixt. consisting of 0.01-5pts.wt. (calculated as Cu<2+>) org. compd. contg. Cu<2+>, 0.1-10mol (per mole of said org. compd. contg. Cu<2+>) of a compd. contg. at least one P-O-H linkage in the molecule and a dialkyl peroxide by using a free-radical generating polymn. initiator. The polymn is conducted so as to produce a methacrylate resin material contg. 0.01-5pts.wt. dialkyl peroxide per 100pts.wt. methacrylate resin in said product.
