Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve combustion or an engine and reduce its fuel consumption, by arranging a semipermeable film for selectively permitting the permeation of oxygen in air at the downstream side of a filter body used for air cleaning.
CONSTITUTION: In a filter element 5 housed in an air cleaner 1, a chrysanthemum flower-shaped semipermeable film 10 of several μ W several tens of μ thickness consisting of synthetic high molecule material of polycarbonate or other material is arranged at the downsteram side of a filter body 9 of chrysanthemum flower- shape consisting of filter paper or the like, then the filter body 9 and the semipermeable film 10 are adhesively fixed by annular end plates 8 consisting of iron plate or the like. Dust or the like in the air is collected by the filter body 9, then the cleaned air is supplied to the semipermeable film 10, through which more oxygen in quantity than nitrogen is allowed to pass, and fed to a combustion chamber (omitted in the drawing) thus to improve combustion.
