Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce a number of a light receiving element cell and the amount of the processed signal associated therewith to a large extent by a method wherein a whole surface area of the accumulated substance in the shaft furnace is permitted to come into a visual field by plural image forming systems and an image formed by said image forming systems is detected by a set of the light receiving element.
CONSTITUTION: The first, second and third lenses 12, b, c, constituting the image forming system are provided to a partition wall 2 provided to the shaft furnace 1 and the fields of view 13a, b, c, and centers of the field of view 14a, b, c in the shaft furnace 1 are divided into three sections. These lenses are mounted above the light receiving element 15 in a condition appropriately inclined against a light axis in such a manner that stress becomes minimum, and images are focused on the surface of the furnace top in multiple fashion. Therefore, the image of a spot 8 of a laser beam L projected to the surface 7 of the furnace top can be focused on the light receiving element 15 by either one of lenses 12a, b, c and a direction of the spot 8 viewed from the light receiving element 15 is determined by a signal from said light receiving element 15 and, at the same time, a position of the surface 7 of the furnace top can be measured by using an incidence angle of the known laser beam L according to a triangulation method.
