Abstract
PURPOSE: To save fuel consumption for drying compared to a conventional method by a mechanism wherein a take-in port of a pig iron receiving container is hermetically sealed, a gas discharge valve is provided and a temperature within a container is controlled within a predetermined range by heating by a burner.
CONSTITUTION: In case of drying a refractory material within a pig iron receiving container 1 which is newly constructed, a pig iron take-in port 11 within a container 1 is hermetically sealed by a cover 12 and, by inserting a burner 2 to heat, a furnace temperature is detected by a thermometer 5 and controlled within a range of preliminarily set upper and lower limit temperatures by a control apparatus 3. That is, by detecting an upper limit temperature, the supply of fuel and air to a burner 2 through an adjusting valve is stopped and, at the same time, a valve 41 of an exhaust system 4 is closed to maintain a heat holding condition. On the other hand, by detecting a lower limit temperature, the burning of a burner is initiated and , at the same time, or exhaust valve 14 is opened. Thereby, a furnace gas is not exhausted wastefully to enhance heating efficiency and about 28% of fuel consumption is economized as compared to a conventional method.
