Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a pearl-like well-grained bituminous substance by the procedure in which the droplets of molten bituminous substance are passed through a water mist zone and then solidified in water.
CONSTITUTION: A molten bituminous substance heated at 150W250°C in the melting container 1 provided with the heating jacket 2 is introduced through the supply pipe 6 into the diffusing container 7 having the perforated plate 8 with 5W10mm holes diameter at its bottom and then made to drop in droplets from the small holes of the perforated plate 8. Then, the liquid droplets are passed through the water mist zone 10 formed over a length of 0.5W1.5m by spraying water from the sprayers 9 and 9' facing each other in order to cool the surfaces of the liquid droplets, then dropped into water in the cooling tank 11 for completion of cooling, and lastly taken out of the screw conveyer 12 provided at the lower part of the cooling tank 11.
