Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title pigment having bright color and capable of coloring in high density, by synthesizing copper phthalocyanine in a high-boiling organic solvent, converting to a sulfate, and hydrolyzing the sulfate thereby separating the copper phthalocyanine pigment.
CONSTITUTION: Copper phthalocyanine is prepared by reacting phthalic acid anhydride, urea, cuprous chloride, etc. in the presence of a catalyst such as ammonium molybdate, etc. in a high-boiling organic solvent inert to concentrated sulfuric acid, e.g. diethylbenzene, trichlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, etc., at about ≥100°C. The copper phthalocyanine thus prepared is converted to sulfate by adding a small amount of sulfuric acid to the reaction mixutre, and then hydrolyzed by adding water. The sulfuric acid is neutralized, and the organic solvent is removed by steam distillation, vacuum distillation, etc., to obtain crude copper phthalocyanine. The crude compound is converted to pigment by kneading with sodium chloride, a binder, etc.
