PURPOSE:To enable to form the surface acoustic wave high in yield rate by removing ripple due to bulk wave, through the formation of a coarse surface having unevenness and random curvature, with chemical etching at high temperature under high pressure at the back of the piezoelectric board. CONSTITUTION:The piezoelectric board 21 is made of X cut LiTaO, the surface 22 of the board 21 is mirror-polished, the inter digital electrodes 23 and 24 for input and output are formed by taking this surface 22 as a transducer, through the evaporation of Al layer, and the surface wave absorbing substances 25 and 26 are respectively provided outside the electrodes 23 and 24. On the other hand, at the rear plate 27 of the board 21, the coarse surface having unevenness and random curvature is formed with chemical etching at high temperature under high pressure. The signal source 28 is connected to the electrode 23 and the load 31 is connected to the electrode 24 via the lead 30, then the converting operation of the electrode 23 produces the surface acoustic wave to deliver it to the electrode 24 where it is converted into electric signal. Thus, the ripple due to bulk wave can be removed to form the surface acoustic wave with high yield rate.
