Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable high power type atomizer by a method wherein a cylindrical body having a relatively large ruggedness as compared to the wavelength of ultrasonic waves at the inside surface thereof is provided, and a metallic plate having an acoustic impedance of between that of a wave generating element and that of a liquid is integrally provided at the surface of the element contacted to the liquid.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic plate 8 having an acoustic impedance of about 8×105 g/cm2.sec, which value is between that of a vibrator 7 and the liquid, is fixed to the surface of the vibrator 7 contacted to the liquid so that the matching of impedances of the vibrator and the liquid is made to be about 8:1W8:3, thereby enhancing the energy-transmitting efficiency. A nonrelflecting body 12 provided in the proximity of the surface of the vibrator 7 contacted to the liquid has a relatively large ruggedness as compared with the wavelength of the waves generated by the vibrator 7 and the half of the wavelength (e.g., about 0.5W1.5mm) at its inside surface, whereby the influences in the liquid such as lateral vibration component generated by a Poisson coupling occurring at the time of driving the vibrator are cancelled, beams of ultrasonic waves are aligned in a fixed direction and the energy- transmitting efficiency is enhanced.
