Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the concentration of stress into a particular location in a solid electrolyte, by causing a electrically conductive member to contact with the solid electrolyte up to the cathode height in the post-charging condition, and causing the cathode height in the post-discharging condition to be lower than the solid electrolyte connection portion. CONSTITUTION:A cathode conducting member 9 consisting of graphite-felt is wound about the solid electrolyte 1 consisting of beta-alumina tube up to the post- charging height b of cathode active material 2 consisting of sulfur or sodium polysulfide. Further, the solid electrolyte 1 and a storage reservoir 4 for sodium 3 which is anode active material are sealed and connected by using glass 10 via an insulating ring 5, so that post-discharging height a of the cathode active material 2 will be lower than said connected portion.
