Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance cutting property of hard alloy, Zr and O2 or Zr, Al and O2 are incorporated into sintered hard alloy consisting of carbide and nitride of Ti as hard phase.
CONSTITUTION: Hard sintered alloy os produced by sintering mixture consisting of, as hard phase, carbides and nitrides of metals in IVa, Va, and VIa groups containing more than 20 mol % of Ti as essential component, and, as binder metal, 3 to 25 % of iron group metals such as Fe, Co, etc. In thia case, 0.01 to 10 wt % of Zr is mixed, and CO partial pressure is maintained at 0.01 to 300 torr to prevent sintered material to be deoxidized thereby to from hard layer of compound as represented by the formula: (metal components) (Cu, Nv, Ow)z, where u: 0.49 to 0.95, v: 0.04 to 0.49, w: 0.01 to 0.20, and z: 0.80 to 1.05. The material further includes 0.1 to 10 wt% of Al, and carbides, nitrides, and oxides of metals essentially consiting of Ti are incorporated with Zr and Al in the form of above formula. The material, thus, provides sintered hard alloy with excellent cutting property, and resistant to wear, plastic deformation, heat, fatigued ductility.
