Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized, low-noise rotary electric machine by providing an external fan having a small outer diameter with such a construction as to satisfy specified requirements so that fan efficiency may be raised to increase air feed rate. CONSTITUTION:The main plate 9a of an external fan 9 is inclined conically toward a housing up to an inclination theta of about 60-65 deg.. A plurality of blades 9b are attached radial to the plate 9a and the tip thereof is set in parallel with an axis 1, a notch 9c is provided in the opposite direction to the inclination of the plate 9a, and the side faces 9d of the blades on the opposite side of the plate 9a are widened toward the outer-circumference thereof. The relation between the outer diameter phiD2 of the fan 9 and the diameter phiD1 of the discharge port of a fan cover is set to D1/D2 1.35-1.45. A bottom portion 10d and a cylindrical portion 10c are interconnected by a conical portion 10f having angle 35-45 deg. with the axis 1 at an angular portion 10e with C/D2 1-1.15 when the diameter of the outer circumferential angular portion 10c of the bottom 10d of the cover is phiA, and the relations between the diameter phiA of the suction port and outer diameter phiD2 of the cover and between the average inner diameter phiA1 and outer diameter phiD2 are set to A/D2 0.9-1.1 and d1/D2 0.45-0.55 respectively.
