Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate brake release action when there is a trouble, by providing a check valve in a connection passage between an oil reservoir and the oil cylinder chamber of an oil pressure conversion unit in which a piston rod is moved back and forth and by providing a brake release mechanism to open the check valve.
CONSTITUTION: When compressed air is supplied into the left chamber 13 on a piston 5 through a feed/discharge pipe 14 and the piston 5 is moved rightward against a spring 12, oil pressure is caused in the oil cylinder of an oil conversion unit 2 by a piston rod 6 to drive a brake cylinder 21 to perform braking. When compressed air is discharged out of the right chamber 9 on a piston 3 in parking or the like, the piston 3, 5 are moved righward by a spring 8 to cause a braking force in the same manner. If the exhaust from the chamber 9 cannot be effected due to a trouble in a compressor or the like to release the brake, a check valve 23 is opened by a brake release mechanism 24 to enable the retraction of the cylinder 21.
