Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote both decrease of drive lead wires and prevention of crosstalks, by using a combination of MXes capable of selecting a macro region in the first matrix MX and a micro region in the second MX and providing strip-shaped anode of parallel fluorescent substances on the substrate.
CONSTITUTION: The first matrix MX for selecting a macro region comprises X, Y electrode elements of X1, X2... and Y1, Y2.... Lead wires are taken out from the respective elements. The X, Y elements are constituted by grids in which fine wires with a suitable pitch are parallelly extended. The macro region is selected by X, Y in the first MX and the micro region by x, y in the second MX. Fluorescent substances on the anode only in a region constrcuted by the X1, x1 and Y1, y1 electrode elements are causte to emit light, while those in the other regions are cut off not allowing an electron to pass through the grids. In this way, a crosstalk can be prevented.
