Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce temper brittleness sensitivity of obtained title steel by a method wherein specific heat treatment is applied to low alloy steel containing Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo and, as inevitable elements, P, Sb, Sn, As limited to below a specific amount.
CONSTITUTION: This steel is obtained by applying hereinafter described heat treatment to a steel which is made by subjecting a steel containing, as percentage by weight, C; 0.15W 0.23%, Si; ≤0.10%, Mn; 0.20W0.60%, Ni; 2.50W3.90%, Cr; 1.50W2.00%, Mo; 0.40W0.60%, Al; ≤0.030% as well as P, Sb, Sn, As, as a ppm amount, limited to below (10P+5Sb+4Sn+As)×10-2=15 and comprising a balance of Fe to vacuum carbon deoxidation treatment (VCD method) and adding Al to the said steel. That is the said specifically made steel is austenitized at 850°C ±20°Cand tempered or normalized from an austenitizing temperature at a cooling speed above 3°C/min., thereafter annealed at 580W630°C to impart 0.2% yield strength of above 60kg/mm2 and tensile strength above 74kg/mm2 at a room temperature.
