Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a cyclohexane dehydrogenation catalyst by which H2 and benzene are formed from cyclohexane with high conversion rate and high selectivity, by supporting VIII group noble metals on aluminum sponge.
CONSTITUTION: NH3 is added to a soln. of VIII group noble metals in dinitrosoamine, and aluminum sponge is further added to the slon., followed by evaporation to dryness. Thus, the noble metals are supported on the aluminum sponge, and calcination is optionally carried out to obtain the desired hydrogenation catalyst. Pt and Pd are, e.g. used as the noble metals, and the amt. of the metals supported is 0.001W0.1, pref. 0.005W0.01 part by wt. to 1 part by wt. of Al. In the presence of this catalyst, H2 and cyclohexane are contacted at 290W620, esp. 300W600°C to produce benzene and H2.
