Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the blooming phenomenon in the reproduced picture field by deleting the charge which is stored excessively in the photo diode during the horizontal blanking period.
CONSTITUTION: In case the vertical MOST is used as the vertical reading switch, photo diode 1 receiving the intensive light is biased in the forward direction by a large amount of charge stored in itself, and the charge caused by the optical current thereafter overflows to horizontal output line 10 through parasitic transistor 11i which is formed under vertical MOST9i. In this connection, the gate voltage of MOST9i is lowered by a fixed amount compared with the substrate voltage or other treatment is given. Thus, overvoltage 13 (the charge stored in diode 1 and overflown in a horizontal period) is read out during the horizontal blanking period and then deleted. In this way, the charge overflowing to line 10 can be prevented, thus preventing the blooming phenomenon.
