Abstract
PURPOSE: To make preventable the stress corrosion cracking at the sensitized portion without heat treatment for forming the solid solution, by welding so as to coat the sensitized portion of stainless steel to be exposed to the liquid, with the deposited metal of anti-stress-corrosion-cracking property.
CONSTITUTION: First of all, the deposited metal is laid on the distance L from the tip 4 of the groove for the build up welding to the part 5 to which the maximum compression stress is subjected, giving relatively low heat input; hereby, is formed the first layer coat 6 strong against the influence of welding heat. Next, the second layer coat 7 and the third layer coat 8 are formed by the build up welding, keeping the distance (l) at the minimum for giving no heat-affect to the stainless steel 10 nearby the end of the deposited metal being again treated for the solid solution. Hereby, the built up welding can be performed without giving sensitization to the stainless steel 10 nearby the end of the deposited metal. After these procedures, the groove is prepared for forming the groove shape 9 suitable for the joint welding, and the joint welding 2 is performed; as a result, a residual compression stress generates at the stainless steel 10 nearby the end of the deposited metal, and the anti-stress-corrosion-cracking-property is further improved.
