Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title substance useful as aggregation pheromones for Douglus fir beetles, by reacting an optically active 3-halogeno-2-cycholexene-1-ol with a compound of (R)2 CuLi.
CONSTITUTION: An optically active compound of formila I: (X is halogen) is reacted with an equimolar or excess amount, preferably equimolar or 10 times the molar amount of the compound I of an alkyl metal compound of formula III: (R is 1W4C. alkyl group) in the presence of an inert solvent, e.g. ether, a hydrocarbon, etc., at -60W50°C, preferably -10°CWroom temperature for several to 20 hr to give a compound of formula III. The compound of formula I is prepared by optical resolution of a compound of formula IV obtained from a 3-halogeno-2-cychohexene- 1-ol and phthalic anhydride, and by deesterification of the resulting half phthalate derivative.
