Abstract

PURPOSE: To charge toner efficiently and obtain the stable and high-quality images without ground stain by forming an insulating material at the end part of an electrode or elastic material layer sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: Insulation type films 10, 11 are formed at both end parts of an electrode 8 to prevent the current from being flowed to a developing roller 4 by the bias voltage being applied. The roller 4 rotates in slide contact with a photosensitive drum 1 to carry out the toner from the inside of a hopper 7 by depositing the same on the surface of its elastic material layer 6. An electrode and defining member 8 defines the toner layer thickness on the roller 4 and charges the toner passing thereunder to the polarity opposite from that of the electrostatic latent images. The toner thus charged contacts the drum 1 to visualize the electrostatic latent images. These toner images are electrostatically transferred.
