Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to increase its effective area required only when high-speed running is performed, by mounting the main body of a rear spoiler on the upper face of the rear portion of a vehicle body, and providing the main body with a slide panel is such a manner that the panel can move backwards, in a vehicle equipped with the rear spoiler on the upper face of the rear portion to its body. CONSTITUTION:During low-speed running, a slide panel 9 is put back in the stepped portion 13 of the main body 8 of a spoiler so that the rear end of a rear spoiler 7 may not much protrude rearwardly from a vehicle body 5. When there is a need to use it during high-speed running, a motor 32 is then started to move while being rotated in the normal direction and the slide a panel 9 is pushed backwards via a driving gear 25 and via a wire 22. The slide panel 9 is thus forced to slide, via a guide roller 19, along a pair of right and left guide rails 20 at regular speed so that it is forced to protrude rearwardly from the main body 8 of the spoiler. The aerodynamic effective area of the whole body of the rear spoiler 7 is thus increased to obtain its sufficient effect.

In the case of the latter movable type, the spoiler 2 can be accommodated within the length of the vehicle body l, but the air resistance when the spoiler 2 is raised becomes extremely large, reducing fuel efficiency at maximum speed. At the same time, great rigidity is required, and it is also necessary to increase the driving force when ascending. Another disadvantage is that the visibility to the rear is also poor.

In the above configuration, the slide panel 9 can move backwards and forwards along the guide rails 17 and 20 of the spoiler body 8, and can be retracted into the stepped portion 13 of the spoiler body 8 as shown by the solid line during low-speed driving. When driving at high speeds, it is used by protruding backwards as shown in the imaginary line.

That is, when driving at low speeds, if the slide panel 9 is retracted, it will fit within the front-to-back width of the spoiler body 8, so the rear end of the rear spoiler 7 will not protrude significantly from the rear of the vehicle body 5, and the front-to-back width will be reduced. Because it is small, it does not impede rear visibility. When it is necessary to use it for high-speed running, the motor 32 is started in the forward rotation direction and the drive gear 25 is
When the slide panel 9 is pushed rearward via the wire 22, the slide panel 9 slides rearward at a constant speed along the guide rail 17.20 and protrudes rearward from the spoiler body 8 as shown by the imaginary line. , the aerodynamically effective area of the entire rear spoiler 7 is increased, and sufficient effects can be obtained. In this case, since the slide panel 9 protrudes rearward,
The increase in air resistance is not much of a problem, so the slide panel 9 and its support mechanism are not required to have particularly high rigidity, and there is no need to increase the driving force. Of course, fuel efficiency does not become extremely bad at maximum speed.

(Effects of the Invention) According to the present invention, the spoiler main body 8 is attached to the rear upper surface side of the vehicle body 5, and the slide panel 9 is provided on the spoiler main body 8 so that the slide panel 9 can move in and out rearward. The slide panel 9 only needs to protrude rearward from the spoiler body 8, and therefore does not always protrude rearward from the vehicle body 5 unlike the conventional fixed type. Furthermore, since the slide panel 9 moves rearward, it does not impair rear visibility unlike conventional movable models, and does not increase air resistance during running.
