"Prior Art and Problems" Today, so-called biopsy, in which tissue is taken from a living body and examined histologically, is widely used in the diagnosis of cancer and the like. Such a biopsy is carried out using, for example, 0.5 to 5 mm of biological tissue in a size of 4.5 cm long x 6.5 cm wide, as shown in Figure 1.
The samples were collected in a mesh bag 1 with a size of about 0.2 mm, washed with water, dehydrated with alcohol, treated with xylene, and then placed in a stainless steel tray 2 as shown in Figure 3. Liquid paraffin is placed in the bag, the specimen is taken out from the mesh bag, placed on top of the liquid paraffin, an embedding ring 4 as shown in FIG. The paraffin is solidified to embed the specimen in the paraffin, and the tray 2 is removed to form a cassette in which an embedding ring 4 as shown in FIG. 4 and paraffin 5 in which the specimen is embedded are integrated. Blocks are created and sliced to create microscopic specimens, which are then observed under a microscope.

Alternatively, if the specimen needs to be stored for a certain period of time for purposes such as reexamination or research, the specimen may be treated with chemicals in the mesh bag 1 as described above, and then replaced with the embedding ring 4. As shown in FIG. 5, a stainless steel support 6 (usually referred to as a "cryostat (product name)") is made of a plate with a through hole 7 and side walls 8 erected on both sides of the plate. 6) was embedded in paraffin in the same manner as above, and a support 6 was used as shown in FIG.
and tray 2 are integrated via paraffin 9 in which the specimen 10 is embedded, and the specimen is frozen and preserved using a refrigerant such as liquid nitrogen, and at the time of examination, this is sliced to prepare a specimen.

However, in the former method, the specimen is treated with chemicals in a mesh bag, which may deform the specimen, and the permeability of chemicals is not necessarily sufficient. Further, when preserving the specimen, a support as shown in FIG. 5 is required.

On the other hand, in the latter case, in addition to the above-mentioned problems when chemical processing is performed inside the mesh bag, it is also expensive because it is made of stainless steel. Furthermore, when freezing with liquid nitrogen, there is a built-in problem in that liquid nitrogen splashes onto the liquid nitrogen, causing inconvenience.

"Means for Solving the Problems" In view of the above circumstances, the inventor of the present invention has conducted extensive research, and as a result has come to provide a frame cassette for histopathological examination that is both inexpensive and has both the embedding ring and support described above. It is something.

In these figures, the frame cassette 11 of the present invention has a bottom part 13 having a large number of pores 12 and a basket part 15 surrounded by a side wall 14, and a protrusion extending from the bottom part 13 in two opposite directions. Edge 1
It consists of 6. The size of the pore 12 is selected depending on the size of the sample collected, so that the sample does not fall, and is usually selected from a range of 0.2 to 0.7 mm. Further, by forming the pores 12 into a tapered shape converging from the inside to the outside, it is possible to increase the engagement force when integrating with paraffin later. A thick columnar part 17 for reinforcement is provided in the square of the side wall 14.
This makes it easier to later slice the paraffin-embedded specimen into specimens. Reference numeral 18 denotes a marking section for writing the subject's name, number, etc., and is finished with a satin finish so that it can be written with a ballpoint pen or the like. Furthermore, a protrusion 19 is provided protruding from the back surface where the side wall 14 extends through the bottom 13.

The shape of the basket portion 15 is not limited to a rectangular shape, and may be circular, oval, or the like without any problem. Depending on the shape of the tray used for paraffin embedding, the projecting edge portions 16 may be provided around the periphery, or may be provided in two opposing directions as shown in the figure. Furthermore, the protrusion 19 may also be omitted depending on the shape of the tray. The marking portion may be provided on the flange portion 16.
The frame cassette 11 is preferably made of synthetic resin such as polyacetal or polycarbonate, which has chemical resistance and low temperature resistance.

To explain the use of the frame cassette as described above, a specimen taken out from a mesh bag is placed on the bottom of the basket 15 and subjected to chemical treatment. after that,
Liquid paraffin is placed in a tray 20, a chemically treated specimen 22 is placed on top of the liquid paraffin, and the frame cassette 11 is placed on the supporting edges 21 extending on both sides of the tray 20, as shown in FIG. , liquid paraffin is passed through the fine hole 12 from above the frame cassette 11 onto the specimen.
The specimen 22 is poured into the frame cassette 11 and tray 20 by cooling and solidifying.
are integrated through solidified paraffin 23 embedded therein. It goes without saying that the chemical treatment may be performed using the mesh bag as is in the conventional manner.

When creating a microscopic specimen, use the tray 20 above.
Remove the sample and slice the specimen-embedded paraffin using a microtome. When the specimen is to be retained, the tray is immersed in liquid nitrogen, frozen, and stored at a predetermined storage temperature without removing the tray.

"Operations and Effects" As mentioned above, the frame cassette of the present invention serves as both an embedding ring and a support for cryopreservation, so it is not only inexpensive but also improves work efficiency. Furthermore, the frame cassette of the present invention has better chemical permeability than when chemical treatment is performed in a mesh bag, and there is no risk of specimen deformation. Furthermore, by providing the marking portion, troubles such as mixing up specimens, selecting the wrong subject, or collecting the wrong place can be prevented, and the reliability of the test can be ensured. Since the frame cassette of this invention is made of synthetic resin,
For example, it is about 1/10 compared to conventional metal supports.
and very economical.
