Description

Conventionally, when customers use a self-service checkout machine at a restaurant, some establishments require the customers to scan coupons themselves.

However, coupons have various usage conditions, and it is not always possible (or it is difficult to use) the scanned coupon as the customer wishes.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a product sales data processing system 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The product sales data processing system 1 is a payment system installed in, for example, a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, and is also a product management system in the store. As shown in the figure, the product sales data processing system 1 is configured by connecting a management device (store controller) 10, a POS device 20, a self-payment device (product sales data processing device) 40, a kitchen device (kitchen monitor, etc.) 60, and an access point 80 by a LAN 100, and also connecting a plurality of order terminals 110..., 140... to the LAN 100 via the access point 80. The LAN 100 may be either wired or wireless. The product sales data processing system 1 is also connected to a network 130, and is connected to, for example, a server (not shown) at the headquarters.

The management device 10 is a computer that controls the entire product sales data processing system 1, and manages various information such as a menu master file (product master file) and a coupon master file. The menu master file and the coupon master file are updated as appropriate. The management device 10 appropriately acquires various information such as the latest menu master file and coupon master file from an external device (e.g., a server at the headquarters) not shown via the network 130, and transmits them as the latest menu file and coupon file to the POS device 20, the self-checkout device 40, the order terminals 110 and 140, etc. FIG. 2 is a diagram showing an example of a menu file 150. As shown in the figure, the menu file 150 stores menu product information such as the menu code, product name, and price of each menu product. As shown in the figure, the coupon file 160 stores coupon information such as the coupon code, coupon name, discount amount, discount rate, expiration date, and terms of use of each coupon. The coupon here is not a coupon for a specific product, but a coupon applied to the total amount.

Figure 4 is a block diagram showing an example of the configuration of the management device 10. As shown in the figure, the management device 10 has a CPU 11, a ROM 12, a RAM 13, a display unit 14, a hard disk 15, an operation unit 16, and a communication unit 17, and these components are connected to each other via a communication line 18. The CPU 11 controls the operation of the management device 10 by executing a control program stored in the ROM 12. The ROM 12 stores various information such as the control program. The RAM 13 temporarily stores various information. The display unit 14 is, for example, a liquid crystal display, and displays information to the store clerk operating the management device 10. The hard disk 15 is a storage means for storing the menu master file, coupon master file, various payment information, etc. The operation unit 16 has various keys for receiving various instructions from the store clerk operating the management device 10. The communication unit 17 is a communication interface for communicating with various devices via the LAN 100.

Returning to FIG. 1, the POS device 20 is used when, for example, a customer who has eaten or drunk asks a store clerk to settle the bill, rather than using the self-checkout device 40 described below.

Figure 5 is an external perspective view of a self-payment device 40 according to an embodiment of the present invention, and Figure 6 is a block diagram showing an example of the configuration of the self-payment device 40. This self-payment device 40 is a payment device (payment means) that allows a customer who has eaten sushi or other food to process the payment for the transaction based on their own operation.

As shown in FIG. 5, the settlement device 40 has a touch panel 41 installed on top of a base 50, a printing unit 45 and a scanner unit 43 installed below the touch panel 41, a non-cash payment processing unit 44 installed on the side of the touch panel 41 for settling payments using non-cash payment methods such as credit cards, prepaid cards and mobile terminals, a bill insertion slot 47 installed on the front side of the base 50, a coin insertion slot 48 installed diagonally below the bill insertion slot 47, and a change ejection slot 49 installed below the bill insertion slot 47.

Note that FIG. 5 shows a tower-type self-payment device 40 with various functional units installed on a base 50, but the self-payment device is not limited to this, and may be configured as a tabletop device that can be placed on a table (countertop) not shown.

As shown in FIG. 6, the self-payment device 40 includes a CPU 201, a ROM 203, a RAM 205, a scanner unit 43, a touch panel 41, a printing unit 45, a communication unit 207, a speaker 209, a deposit/withdrawal unit 211, and a non-cash payment processing unit 44, which are interconnected by a communication line 213.

The CPU 201 controls the operation of the self-payment device 40 by reading and executing programs stored in the ROM 203. The ROM 203 stores programs (including programs that cause the operation flow shown in FIG. 7 below to function). The RAM 205 stores various information, such as the contents of the menu file 150 shown in FIG. 2 and the coupon file 160 shown in FIG. 3, history information, etc.

The scanner unit 43 is an acquisition means that optically acquires information such as a barcode (such as table identification information) recorded on a receipt (hereinafter referred to as a "cash slip" in this example) or information such as a two-dimensional code for a coupon (coupon information) displayed on the display screen of a mobile terminal (not shown) held by the customer. The touch panel 41 has the functions of a display unit 411 that displays various information to the customer, and an input unit 413 that inputs various commands by touching the screen. The input unit 413 is an input means. In this example, the printing unit 45 prints on a receipt and issues the printed receipt from the issuing port 451 (see FIG. 5). The communication unit 207 communicates with other devices via the LAN 100. The speaker 209 notifies the customer of various operation information by voice.

The deposit/withdrawal unit 211 is configured with a change dispenser and its control unit, and performs settlement processing with cash. When settlement is performed with cash using the change dispenser, the deposit/withdrawal unit 211 outputs the result of the settlement (for example, information indicating whether the settlement has been established) to the CPU 201 via the communication line 213. The change dispenser includes the banknote insertion port 47 for inserting and ejecting banknotes, the coin insertion port 48 for inserting coins, and the change ejection port 49 for ejecting change. The non-cash settlement processing unit 44 includes a credit card reader, an electronic money reader, and the like. When settlement is performed with a credit card or the like using the non-cash settlement processing unit 44, the result of the settlement is output to the CPU 201.

Returning to FIG. 1, in this example, kitchen device 60 is a kitchen monitor that displays cooking instruction data for the ordered food on a screen, and is generally installed near the kitchen (cooking area). The staff member who cooks in the kitchen prepares the food according to the cooking instructions displayed on kitchen terminal 60. Kitchen device 60 receives cooking instruction commands transmitted when a food order is received from order terminals 110, 140, etc., and displays the cooking instructions. Kitchen device 60 may be a kitchen printer that prints out the cooking instructions on a sheet instead of a kitchen monitor, or both may be installed.

The order terminals 110 and 140 have the same configuration. As shown in FIG. 1, the order terminal 110 has a touch panel 117 and an operation button section 121 on its surface. The order terminal 140 also has a touch panel 147 and an operation button section 149 on its surface. The functions of both are almost the same, but the difference between the two is that the order terminal 140 is a mobile terminal that is mainly operated by store clerks, whereas the order terminal 110 is a mobile terminal that is mainly operated by customers themselves.

Next, an example of the operation of this product sales data processing system 1 will be described.
For example, a customer takes a plate moving on the conveyor belt to a table where the customer is seated, and eats a menu item such as sushi placed on the plate. On the other hand, a customer may directly order a waiter from the order terminal 140 to request the kitchen to prepare the menu item, or the customer may operate the order terminal 110 to request the kitchen to prepare the menu item. Next, when the customer has finished eating and drinking, the waiter checks (counts) the type and number of plates eaten, and the payment information (various information required for payment) is sent from the order terminal 140 or the like to the management device 10. Alternatively, in a case where a device that automatically checks (counts) the type and number of plates eaten and automatically transmits the payment information to the management device 10 is installed, when the customer has finished eating and drinking, the customer himself/herself uses the order terminal 110 or the like to transmit to the management device 10 that the customer has finished eating and drinking. The payment information is linked to the table identification information (e.g., table number) of the customer who will be making the payment and stored in the management device 10. The customer then moves to the self-payment device 40. The customer then operates the self-payment device 40 in front of him/her to carry out the payment process.

Figure 7 is an operational flow diagram showing an example of the payment process in the self-payment device 40. First, the bill reading screen (slip reading screen) G11 shown in Figure 8 is displayed on the touch panel 41 of the self-payment device 40 (step 1-1). In addition to the instruction field G111 for the text "Please read the bill," the bill reading screen G11 also displays a screen instruction field G113 illustrating the state of reading the bill, making the operation easy to perform. After the table identification information of the bill is read, the touch panel 41 displays a coupon use confirmation screen G12 as shown in FIG. 9, which allows the customer to confirm whether or not to use a coupon (step 1-3). If the "No" button G123 is pressed on the coupon use confirmation screen G12, it is determined that the coupon will not be used ("N" in step 1-3), and the process proceeds to step 1-12, where the bill start screen G13 as shown in FIG. 10 is displayed. The bill start screen G13 displays a cash selection button G131 and a non-cash selection button G133 as payment method selection buttons, as well as a bill number field G135 and a payment amount display field G137. This allows the customer to select a payment method and check the payment amount at the same time. After selecting a payment method, the customer uses the change machine (banknote insertion slot 47, coin insertion slot 48, change ejection slot 49, etc.) and the non-cash payment processing unit 44 to carry out the billing process (settlement process).

On the other hand, if the "Yes" button G121 is pressed on the coupon usage confirmation screen G12, it is determined that a coupon is to be used ("Y" in step 1-3), and the process proceeds to step 1-4, where the coupon reading screen G14 as shown in FIG. 11 is displayed. In addition to the instruction field G141 for the text "Please read the coupon code", the coupon reading screen G14 displays a screen instruction field G142 illustrating the state in which the coupon is to be read, a coupon display field G143 displaying the type of coupon that has been read, a subtotal display field G144 displaying the amount of the transaction, a coupon number display field G145 displaying the number of coupons used, a checkout instruction button G146 for instructing the user to proceed to checkout, a store clerk call button G147 for calling a store clerk, and a coupon cancellation button G148 for canceling the use of a coupon. The coupon number display field G145 displays "0/4", which indicates that a maximum of four types of coupons can be displayed, and currently zero coupons have been loaded.

Below, we will explain the following cases: (1) when scanning one coupon and making a payment, (2) when scanning multiple coupons that can be used together and making a payment, (3) when scanning two coupons that cannot be used together and making a payment, and (4) when scanning three or more coupons that cannot be used together and making a payment.

(1) When settling by reading one coupon The customer reads, in accordance with the instructions on the coupon reading screen G14 shown in Fig. 11, the scanner unit 43 of the self-payment device 40 reads, for example, a two-dimensional code related to coupon information displayed on the display screen of a mobile terminal (not shown) carried by the customer, or a two-dimensional code related to coupon information printed on a paper medium (step 1-5). When the coupon code information is read, it is determined whether or not the coupon is usable at the self-payment device 40 (step 1-6). An example of an unusable coupon would be one that requires the actual coupon to be collected (one that can only be handled by a manned POS device).

If it is determined that the coupon is usable, the process proceeds to step 1-7, and the type of the coupon is displayed in the coupon display field G143, as shown in the coupon loading screen G14-2 in FIG. 12. In this example, the coupon "Coupon A 10% discount" is displayed in the coupon display field G143, and the coupon quantity display field G145 indicates that one coupon has been loaded.

In this example, one coupon is read and settled, so when the accounting instruction button G146 is pressed ("Y" in step 1-8), the process moves to step 1-9, where it is determined whether or not multiple coupons can be used together if there are multiple coupons. However, since there is only one coupon in this example, the process moves to step 1-12 via "N" in step 1-9, and the accounting start screen G13-2 as shown in FIG. 13 is displayed, and accounting (settlement) is carried out in the same way as in the accounting start screen G13 shown in FIG. 10. The amount displayed in the payment amount display field G137 on this accounting start screen G13-2 shows the amount after the 10% discount from coupon A has been applied.

On the other hand, if it is determined in step 1-6 that the coupon cannot be used, the process moves to step 1-13, where the store clerk call screen G17 shown in FIG. 14 is displayed. The store clerk call screen G17 displays instructions to call a store clerk if the coupon is to be used. To call a store clerk, the store clerk call button G147 is pressed ("Y" in step 1-14), and the series of operations ends. The called store clerk performs the settlement process at the POS device 20 or the like, and collects the coupon. On the other hand, if a store clerk is not to be called, i.e., if the coupon is not to be used, the back button G171 is pressed. When the back button G171 is pressed, the process returns to the coupon reading screen G14, and the operations from step 1-7 onwards are carried out.

(2) When multiple coupons that can be used together are read and the payment is made After the coupon reading screen G14 shown in FIG. 11 is displayed in step 1-4, the customer uses the scanner unit 43 to read multiple coupons (three in this example) in succession (repeating step 1-5, "Y" in step 1-6, and "N" in step 1-7, and step 1-8). On the other hand, if any coupon is available at least for that coupon, the coupon reading screen G14-3 shown in FIG. 15 is displayed (step 1-7). In this example, three coupons, "D coupon 100 yen discount", "A coupon 10% discount", and "E coupon 300 yen discount", are displayed in the coupon number display field G145, and it is displayed that three coupons have been read.

Next, when the accounting instruction button G146 is pressed ("Y" in step 1-8), in step 1-9, it is determined whether the multiple coupons that were read can be used together. In this example, all coupons can be used together, so the process moves from "N" in step 1-9 to step 1-12, where the accounting start screen G13-3 as shown in FIG. 16 is displayed, and accounting (settlement) is carried out in the same way as in the accounting start screen G13 shown in FIG. 10.

In this embodiment, the amount displayed in the payment amount display field G137 on the checkout start screen G13-3 is the amount after applying the three coupons. The order in which the coupons are applied is not the order in which the coupons are read, but is automatically determined by the order in which the payment amount is smallest when each coupon is applied. Specifically, in this example, the order is "A coupon 10% discount" → "D coupon 100 yen discount" → "E coupon 300 yen discount", that is, coupons that discount by discount rate (%) are applied first. If there are multiple coupons that discount by discount rate (%), they are automatically applied in order from the largest discount rate (%). This allows the customer to know in advance the coupon selection state that will result in the smallest payment amount.

(3) When two coupons that cannot be used together are read and the payment is made After the coupon reading screen G14 shown in FIG. 11 is displayed in step 1-4, the customer uses the scanner unit 43 to read multiple coupons (two in this example) in succession (repeating step 1-5, "Y" in step 1-6, step 1-7, and "N" in step 1-8). If any coupon is not available during the process, the process proceeds to step 1-13, and the same store clerk calling operation as above is performed. On the other hand, if any of the coupons is available at least for that coupon, the coupon reading screen G14-4 shown in FIG. 17 is displayed (step 1-7). In this example, two coupons, "A coupon 10% discount" and "B coupon 50 yen discount", are displayed in the coupon display field G143, and the fact that two coupons have been read is displayed in the coupon number display field G145.

Next, when the accounting instruction button G146 is pressed ("Y" at step 1-8), in step 1-9, it is determined whether the multiple coupons that were read can be used together. In this example, the multiple coupons that were read cannot be used together, so "Y" at step 1-9 leads to step 1-10, and the coupon selection screen G15 as shown in FIG. 18 is displayed.

The coupon selection screen G15 displays a warning field G151 stating "You cannot use some coupons," a selection instruction field G153 stating "If there is a coupon you wish to cancel loading, please touch that coupon," a coupon display field G155 displaying the type of coupon that has been loaded, a checkout guide field G157 stating "If you wish, please touch the button to proceed to checkout," a checkout instruction button G159 which instructs the user to proceed to checkout, a subtotal display field G161, a coupon number display field G163, a store clerk call button G165, and a coupon cancellation button G167.

In this example, "Coupon A 10% off" and "Coupon B 50 yen off" are loaded, but "Coupon A 10% off" is displayed as being used automatically with priority, and "Coupon B 50 yen off" is marked with an "X" to indicate that it cannot be used in conjunction with "Coupon A 10% off." In this case, it is preferable to make "Coupon A 10% off" and "Coupon B 50 yen off" different colors or different types of text in addition to marking the "X" (or instead of marking the "X"), i.e., to make the display format different so that it is possible to clearly distinguish between coupons that are applied and coupons that are not applied.

The reason why "Coupon A 10% Discount" is displayed as being used automatically with priority is because "Coupon A 10% Discount" is a larger discount amount than "Coupon B 50 yen Discount". That is, in this embodiment, before accepting the customer's operation, the coupon selection state is set in advance so that the payment amount when the coupon is applied is the smallest. This allows the customer to know in advance the coupon selection state that will result in the smallest payment amount. The amount when "Coupon A 10% Discount" is applied is displayed in the subtotal display field G161.

If the customer wishes to settle the bill using the "A coupon 10% discount," the customer presses the accounting instruction button G159 ("N" in step 1-11 to step 1-12) and proceeds to the accounting process using an accounting start screen (not shown) (similar to the accounting start screens G13-2 and 3 shown in Figures 13 and 16).

On the other hand, if the customer wishes to stop using "Coupon A 10% discount" and make the payment using "Coupon B 50 yen discount", the customer refers to the description in the selection instruction field G153 of the coupon selection screen G15 and presses the display portion of "Coupon A 10% discount" ("Y" in step 1-11). This press causes the process of changing the coupon to be used (step 1-15). If the "No" button G185 is pressed, the screen returns to the coupon selection screen G15 shown in FIG. 18, but if the "Yes" button G183 is pressed, the "A coupon 10% discount" is cancelled, completing the change process (step 1-15), and the screen returns to step 1-9 with the "B coupon 50 yen discount" remaining. Specifically, the coupon loading screen G14-5 shown in FIG. 20 is first displayed. Note that the payment amount display field G137 on the accounting start screen G13-4 shows the payment amount when the "B coupon 50 yen discount" is used.

In this example, four coupons, "B coupon 50 yen discount", "F coupon 50 yen discount", "G coupon 100 yen discount", and "H coupon 150 yen discount", are displayed in the coupon number display field G145, and it is displayed that four coupons have been read.

Next, when the accounting instruction button G146 is pressed ("Y" at step 1-8), in step 1-9, it is determined whether the multiple coupons that were read in can be used together. In this example, the multiple coupons that were read in cannot be used together, so "Y" at step 1-9 leads to step 1-10, and the coupon selection screen G15-2 as shown in FIG. 23 is displayed.

As described above, the coupon selection screen G15-2 displays the warning section G151, the selection instruction section G153, the coupon display section G155, the checkout information section G157, the checkout instruction button G159, the subtotal display section G161, the coupon number display section G163, the store clerk call button G165, and the coupon cancellation button G167.

In this example, of the four loaded coupons, "H coupon 150 yen discount" with the largest discount amount is sorted and displayed at the top so that it is used with priority automatically, and the other three coupons are marked with an "X" to indicate that they cannot be used in conjunction with "H coupon 150 yen discount". In other words, multiple coupons are displayed in order based on the amount deducted from the payment amount when each coupon is applied (with the coupon with the largest deduction at the top). In this case, too, it is preferable to use different colors or different types of text for "H coupon 150 yen discount" and the other three coupons in addition to (or instead of) marking them with an "X", i.e., to make the display style different so that the applicable coupons and the non-applicable coupons can be clearly identified. In this example, the order of coupons other than the top-ranked coupon with the largest discount amount, i.e. "H coupon 150 yen discount", remains the same and is not rearranged in order of discount amount ("G coupon 100 yen discount", which has the second highest discount amount, is now in fourth place), but all coupons may be rearranged in order of discount amount.

In this embodiment as well, before accepting an operation by the customer, the coupon selection state is set in advance so that the payment amount when the coupon is applied is the smallest. This allows the customer to know in advance the coupon selection state that will result in the smallest payment amount. The subtotal display field G161 shows the amount when the "H coupon 150 yen discount" is applied.

If the customer wishes to settle the bill using the "H coupon 150 yen discount," the customer presses the accounting instruction button G159 ("N" in step 1-11 to step 1-12) and proceeds to the accounting process using an accounting start screen (not shown) (similar to the accounting start screens G13-2 and 3 shown in Figures 13 and 16).

On the other hand, if you wish to stop using the "H coupon 150 yen discount" and make the payment using another coupon, refer to the description in the selection instruction field G153 of the coupon selection screen G15-2 and press the display section for "H coupon 150 yen discount" ("Y" in step 1-11). Examples of product sales data processing devices include fully self-service registers where the customer handles everything from product registration to payment, semi-self-service payment machines where the customer only handles payment, face-to-face POS devices (with their customer-side display) where a store clerk processes the payment while facing the customer, and ticket vending machines.
The coupons here are mainly intended to be ones that can be used only once, and since unintentional use is irreversible, it is meaningful to allow the customer to select at their own will. Note that the present invention does not exclude coupons that can be used any number of times within the expiration date, but in the case of such coupons, it is possible to display this fact on the coupon selection screen to provide the customer with information on which to base their decision.
According to the present invention, a customer can easily select a coupon to be used at his/her will while checking on the screen of the display means whether or not a plurality of coupons can be used in combination.
Conventionally, when multiple coupons are scanned at a self-service checkout machine at a restaurant, if a combination that cannot be used together is included, the most advantageous combination in terms of price is automatically selected. If a customer wishes to reselect a coupon after this automatic selection has been entered, they must first erase all the coupons that have been scanned, which is inconvenient. The present invention solves the above problem, allowing customers to easily select the coupon to use when multiple coupons cannot be used together.

A product sales data processing device installed in a store,
a declaration means for declaring the use of a coupon to be applied to a transaction;
a display means for displaying information indicating a plurality of coupons declared for use on a screen that is visually recognized by the customer ;
The display means displays discount amounts corresponding to each combination of coupons that can be used together among the plurality of coupons.
