Description
図1(A)および図1(B)は、第1実施形態の液晶表示装置の構成を示す断面図である。この液晶表示装置は、対向配置された第1基板11および第2基板12と、第1基板11と第2基板12の間に配置された液晶層17を基本構成として備える。例えば、本実施形態の液晶表示装置は、電極同士の重なり合う領域が表示したい文字や図案を直接的に形作るように構成され、基本的に予め定められた文字等、すなわち定型の文字等のみを表示可能であり、概ね、有効表示領域内における面積比で50%以下程度の領域が文字等の表示に寄与するものであるセグメント表示型の液晶表示装置である。なお、液晶表示装置は、複数の画素がマトリクス状に配列されたドットマトリクス表示型とセグメント表示型が混在したものであってもよい。
第2実施形態の液晶表示装置は上記した第1実施形態の液晶表示装置と同様の構成を備えている(図1等参照)。したがって、以下では第2実施形態の液晶表示装置を説明する際に、第1実施形態の液晶表示装置と共通する構成要素については同一名称、同一符号を用いたうえで、それらの詳細な説明については適宜省略する。

Claims (5)
- 定型の文字又は図柄を表示するための表示部を備え、マルチプレックス駆動される液晶表示装置であって、
液晶層と、
前記液晶層を挟んで対向配置された第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板の一面側に設けられた複数の第1電極と、
前記第1基板の一面側に設けられた複数の第2電極と、
前記第1基板の一面側に設けられ、各々が前記複数の第1電極のいずれかと接続された複数の第1引き回し配線と、
前記第1基板の一面側に設けられ、各々が前記複数の第2電極のいずれかと接続された複数の第2引き回し配線と、
前記第2基板の一面側に設けられ、前記複数の第2引き回し配線のうちの2つ以上の第2引き回し配線の各一部分と平面視で重畳するとともに前記複数の第1引き回し線の少なくとも1つ以上の一部分とも平面視で重畳するジャンパ配線と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板の間において前記2つ以上の第2引き回し配線の各一部分と前記ジャンパ配線との間に介在する導電材と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板の間に介在して前記液晶層を囲むシール材と、
含み、
前記液晶層は、前記複数の第1引き回し配線及び前記複数の第2引き回し配線を介して前記複数の第1電極と前記複数の第2電極との間で電界を与えられて動作するものであり、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板とが重なる領域は、表示領域と周辺領域を含み、
前記複数の第1引き回し線の各一部分及び前記2つ以上の第2引き回し配線の各一部分と前記ジャンパ配線は、前記周辺領域における前記シール材よりも外側に配置される、
液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の第1電極と前記複数の第2電極は、それぞれが複数の電極枝を有し、
前記複数の第1電極の各々は、前記複数の第2電極のいずれかと対をなし、
当該対をなす第1電極と第2電極は互いの複数の電極枝が交互に並ぶように配置されている、
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の第1電極の各々がセグメント電極であり、前記複数の第2電極の各々がコモン電極である、
請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の第2引き回し配線の全ての各一部分と前記ジャンパ配線とが平面視で重畳する、
請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の第1引き回し配線の全ての各一部分と前記ジャンパ配線とが平面視で重畳する、
請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
