Description
本出願は、2005年12月29日出願の米国特許仮出願番号第60/743084号の利益を主張し、その開示内容全体を参照として本明細書に援用する。
本発明は、燃料電池に使用される膜電極接合体(MEA)などの5層膜電極接合体を製造するために、ガス拡散層(GDL)を触媒コーティング電解質膜(CCM)に取り付ける方法に関する。
「ラミネートする」とは2枚以上のシート材を結合することを意味し、
「5層膜電極接合体」とはガス拡散層、触媒層、ポリマー電解質膜の層、他の触媒層、及び他のガス拡散層を含む少なくとも5層からなる構造を意味し、且つ
「ガス拡散層](GDL)は、前述の「拡散/電流コレクタ」(DCC)層、「流体輸送層」(FTL)、又は「電極バッキング層」(EBL)を含んでもよい。
Claims (1)
- a)
1)第1及び第2面を有するポリマー電解質膜と、
2)隣合うパターン化された触媒層セグメントが互いに接触しないように前記膜の前記第1面にラミネートされた複数のパターン化された第1触媒層セグメントと、
3)隣合うパターン化された触媒層セグメントが互いに接触しないように前記膜の前記第2面にラミネートされた複数のパターン化された第2触媒層セグメントと、を備える触媒コーティング電解質膜ウェブを提供する工程と、
b)前記触媒コーティング電解質膜ウェブを、ラミネートニップを形成する一対のラミネート用ローラーの間に引き込む、ラミネートステーションを提供する工程と、
c)第1ガス拡散層材の第1ウェブをダイカットして第1ガス拡散層を形成する工程と、
d)第2ガス拡散層材の第2ウェブをダイカットして第2ガス拡散層を形成する工程と、
e)前記第1ガス拡散層を前記ラミネートステーションに輸送する工程と、
f)前記第2ガス拡散層を前記ラミネートステーションに輸送する工程と、
g)前記第1ガス拡散層を前記触媒コーティング電解質膜ウェブに隣接する前記ラミネートニップに供給する工程と、
h)前記第2ガス拡散層を前記第1ガス拡散層と同時に前記触媒コーティング電解質膜ウェブに隣接する前記ラミネートニップに供給する工程と、
i)前記第1ガス拡散層、前記触媒コーティング電解質膜ウェブ及び前記第2ガス拡散層をこの順に積層してラミネートを形成する工程と、
j)工程a)〜i)を繰り返して複数の5層膜電極接合体を備える連続ウェブを形成する工程と、
を含む5層膜電極接合体の製造方法。
