用語「周期」は、充電半周期と放電半周期の組み合わせを指し、セル又は電池は、充電半周期で電気エネルギーを取り込んで蓄え、放電半周期で電気エネルギーを放出する。
LNMCOは、Li(1+y)M2 (1-y)O2であり、式中、0≦y≦0.9、M2=MnaNibCocであり、式中、a+b+c=1、(1+y)/(1−y)−1≦a≦1、0を超えるcに対して0≦b/c≦100、又は、c=0に対してb=1−aであり、
LNM1Oは、式中d+e=1、0を超えるeに対して0≦d/e≦100、又は、e=0に対してd=1であるLiNidCOeO2と、式中0<z+z’<1であるLiNi1-(z+z')CozAlz'O2とから成る群から選択される。
LNMCOが、Li(1+y)M2 (1-y)O2であり、式中、0≦y≦0.9、M2=MnaNibCocであり、式中、a+b+c=1、(1+y)/(1−y)−1≦a≦1、0<b/c≦100であり、
LNM1Oが、式中d+e=1、0<d/e≦100であるLiNidCOeO2と、式中0<z+z’<1であるLiNi1-(z+z')CozAlz'O2とから成る群から選択される。
カソード活性材料スラリーの調製
以下の4つの活性カソード材料組成が利用された。
1.LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 100%(参照番号 DR28)
2.LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 75%、LNCO−1 25%(参照番号 DR29)
3.LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 25%、LNCO−1 75%(参照番号 DR30)
4.LNCO−1 100%(参照番号 DR31)
正電極及び検査用コイン型電池の準備
各カソード活性スラリー製剤に対する正電極は、ガードコ社からの調節可能マイクロフィルム塗布装置を用いて(間隔、12ミル)、アルミニウム薄膜上をスラリーで覆い、始めに、炉外の電気プレート上で、110℃で2時間にわたり、次に、真空オーブン内で、110℃で40時間にわたり乾燥させることにより準備された。乾燥材料は、それぞれ、その元の値の約75%に対応する、104〜108μm(参照番号、DR28)、100〜105μm(参照番号、DR29)、108〜110μm(参照番号、DR30)、及び89〜95μm(参照番号、DR31)の厚さに圧縮された。0.5インチの直径の電極は、打ち抜かれ、重量を計測され、重量負荷が計算された(108〜110mg/インチ2)。1/2インチ・コイン型リチウム金属電池は、以下のように(各参照材料に対して3つのバッチで)作製された。セパレータ・Setela(ポリエチレンフィルム、20μmの厚さ)及びフェロ社のEC/DMC/DEC 1:1:1(体積)中に1MのLiPF6の電解質が利用された。
電圧周期性能検査
コイン型電池は、マッコール社の周期測定機器上で、以下の予定表に従って、3V〜4.2Vの電圧間隔内で検査された:C/20で充電し、電流をC/200にして4.2Vで尖鋭にする、C/20で放電する、C/10で充電し、電流をC/100にして4.2Vで尖鋭にする、C/10で放電する、C/10で充電し、電流をC/100にして4.2Vで尖鋭にする、18時間にわたり継続する。
比容量検査
コイン型電池を検査し、周期特性曲線からのデータを利用して、比容量(mAh/g)と周期クーロン効率とを測定した。その結果は、表2に作表された。以下の略記が、充電(Ch.)、放電(Dch.)、及び効率(Eff.)に用いられている。
示差走査熱量測定(DSC)を利用した熱安定性の検査
実施例2で準備されたコイン型電池は、実施例3の18時間充電継続の後に、グローブボックス内で分解された。充電されたカソードは、電解質と結合剤を取り除くために溶剤で洗浄され、次に、各カソードは、一定のカソード/電解質重量比で、電解質と混合された。これらの調製物は、ティー・エイ・インスツルメント社(ニューカッスル、デラウェア州)の熱量測定計モデル2010を利用して、DSCを受けた。カソード混合物(DR29及びDR30)を検査する図6及び図7は、約200℃で放熱が著しく減少し、その放熱が、LNCO−1カソードの放熱(図8)に対応することを示す。
Claims (5)
- a)LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2:及び
b)LNM1O
を含み、ここでLNM1Oは、LiNi 0.8 Co 0.2 O 2 であることを特徴とする正電極活性材料混合物。 - 正電極、負電極、及び非水電解質を含み、前記正電極が、
a)LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2及び
b)LNM1O、
の混合物を含み、ここでLNM1Oは、LiNi 0.8 Co 0.2 O 2 であることを特徴とする非水電解質リチウム二次電池。 - 負電極が、リチウム金属を含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の非水電解質リチウム二次電池。
- 前記電解質が、炭酸プロピレン、炭酸エチレン、炭酸ジメチル、炭酸ジエチル、炭酸エチルメチル、ピロ炭酸ジエチル、1,2−ジメトキシエタン、1,2−ジエトキシエタン、ガンマブチロラクトン、テトラヒドロフラン、2−メチルテトラヒドロフラン、1,3−ジオキソラン、4−メチル−1,3−ジオキソラン、ジエチルエーテル、スルホラン、アセトニトリル、プロピオニトリル、グルタロニトリル、アニソール、1−メチル−2−ピロリジノン、及び、それらの混合物から成る群から選択される溶剤を含む、請求項2に記載の非水電解質リチウム二次電池。
- 前記電解質が、LiN(SO2CF3)2、LiN(SO2C2F5)2、LiASF6、LiPF6、LiBF4、LiB(C6H5)4、LiCl、LiBr、LiI、CH3SO3Li、CF3SO3Li、LiClO4、及びLiSCNから成る群から選択される塩を含む、請求項2に記載の非水電解質リチウム二次電池。
