[垂直磁気記録媒体]
図1は、本実施形態にかかる垂直磁気記録媒体100の構成を説明する図である。図1に示す垂直磁気記録媒体100は、ディスク基体110、付着層112、第1軟磁性層114a、スペーサ層114b、第2軟磁性層114c、前下地層116、第1下地層118a、第2下地層118b、非磁性グラニュラ層120、下記録層122a、介在層122b、第1主記録層122c、第2主記録層122d、分断層124、補助記録層126、媒体保護層128、潤滑層130で構成されている。なお第1軟磁性層114a、スペーサ層114b、第2軟磁性層114cはあわせて軟磁性層114を構成する。第1下地層118aと第2下地層118bはあわせて下地層118を構成する。下記録層122aと介在層122b、第1主記録層122c、第2主記録層122dはあわせて磁気記録層122を構成する。
ディスク基体110上に、真空引きを行った成膜装置を用いて、DCマグネトロンスパッタリング法にてAr雰囲気中で、付着層112から補助記録層126まで順次成膜を行った。付着層112は、CrTiとした。軟磁性層114は、第1軟磁性層114a、第2軟磁性層114cの組成はCoFeTaZrとし、スペーサ層114bの組成はRuとした。前下地層116の組成は、NiWとした。第1下地層118aは所定圧力(低圧:例えば0.6〜0.7Pa)のAr雰囲気下でRu膜を成膜した。第2下地層118bは、酸素が含まれているターゲットを用いて所定圧力より高い圧力(高圧:例えば4.5〜7Pa)のAr雰囲気下で、酸素を含有するRu(RuO)膜を成膜した。非磁性グラニュラ層120の組成は非磁性のCoCr−SiO2とした。下記録層122aは粒界部に酸化物の例としてCr2O5およびSiO2を含有し、CoCrPt−Cr2O5−SiO2のhcp結晶構造を形成した。介在層122bはRuから形成した。第1主記録層122cは、粒界部に複合酸化物(複数の種類の酸化物)の例としてSiO2およびTiO2を含有し、CoCrPt−SiO2−TiO2のhcp結晶構造を形成した。第2主記録層122dは、粒界部に複合酸化物(複数の種類の酸化物)の例としてSiO2、TiO2およびCo3O4を含有し、CoCrPt−SiO2−TiO2−Co3O4のhcp結晶構造を形成した。分断層124はRuWO3から形成した。補助記録層126の組成はCoCrPtBとした。媒体保護層128はCVD法によりC2H4およびCNを用いて成膜し、潤滑層130はディップコート法によりPFPEを用いて形成した。

Claims (3)
- 基体上に、信号を記録する磁気記録層と、該磁気記録層より上に設けられ該磁気記録層に対して磁気的相互作用を有する補助記録層と、RuまたはRu化合物と酸素を含む分断層と、該磁気記録層より下に設けられRuまたはRu化合物からなる下地層と、非磁性の結晶質材料からなり該下地層の結晶配向性を制御するための前下地層と、該前下地層より下に設けられる軟磁性層とを備える垂直磁気記録媒体において、
前記下地層は、下層側の第1下地層と、前記磁気記録層の直下に位置する上層側の第2下地層を有し、第2下地層の結晶粒子は第1下地層の結晶粒子よりも粗く、
前記分断層はWO 3 を含み、
断面TEM画像より求められる、前記軟磁性層と前記前下地層の界面の凹凸の最高点と最低点との差分を界面ラフネス(nm)とし、該軟磁性層と前記磁気記録層との間のこれらを含まない距離をSUL−MAG間距離(nm)としたとき、
界面ラフネス(nm)≦0.4(nm)
且つ
界面ラフネス(nm)×SUL−MAG間距離(nm)≦12(nm)
を満たすことを特徴とする垂直磁気記録媒体。 - 基体上に、磁性粒子と酸化物からなり信号を記録する磁気記録層と、該磁気記録層より上に設けられ該磁気記録層に対して磁気的相互作用を有する補助記録層と、RuまたはRu化合物と酸素を含む分断層と、該磁気記録層より下に設けられRuまたはRu化合物からなり該磁気記録層の結晶配向性を制御するための下地層と、非磁性の結晶質材料からなり該下地層の結晶配向性を制御するための前下地層と、該前下地層より下に設けられる軟磁性層とを備える垂直磁気記録媒体において、
前記下地層は、下層側の第1下地層と、前記磁気記録層の直下に位置する上層側の第2下地層を有し、第2下地層の結晶粒子は第1下地層の結晶粒子よりも粗く、
前記分断層に含有される酸素が前記磁気記録層の酸化物の上に偏析し、Ruが磁性粒子の上に偏析していて、
前記分断層はWO 3 を含み、
前記軟磁性層と前記前下地層の界面の凹凸の最高点と最低点との差分を界面ラフネス(nm)とし、該前下地層から前記補助記録層までのこれらを含む距離を結晶質総厚(nm)としたとき、
界面ラフネス(nm)≦0.4(nm)
且つ
界面ラフネス(nm)×結晶質総厚(nm)≦21(nm)
を満たし、結晶質層厚は60(nm)以下であることを特徴とする垂直磁気記録媒体。 - 前記前下地層は結晶質のNiWからなり、非晶質のNiTaまたは非晶質のCrTaからなる付着層の上に成膜されたものであることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の垂直磁気記録媒体。
