Description
上記所定形状は、導光板の側面、または端面に形成される光学パターンであり、この光学パターンは、ブラスト処理、微細なプリズム形状、シリンドリカルレンズ形状であってもよい。また上記所定形状は、テーパ形状などであってもよい。
また前記導光板の側面と、導光板を背面側から支持するシャーシの側面との間に、前記導光板の側面から出射された光を液晶パネル側に反射させるための反射部材を設けてもよい。
さらに、LEDの出射方向を加味し、有効表示領域中心部と導光板中心部を相対的にずらすようにしてもよい。
Claims (13)
- 光源と、該光源からの光を液晶パネル側に導く導光板とを備え、前記導光板の前記液晶パネルと対向する光出射面から前記液晶パネルに向けて光を出射するように構成されたバックライトユニットであって、
前記導光板の光出射面の面積が液晶パネルの有効表示領域よりも小さく、
前記導光板の光出射面と垂直な側面、及び/または光出射面の該側面近傍の端部に、光を拡散または散乱させるための所定形状が形成されており、
前記導光板の側面と対向する位置に、前記導光板の背面側から前記液晶パネルに向けて拡がるような形状の反射要素が配置されており、該反射要素により、前記導光板の側面から出射された光を反射して前記液晶パネル側に導くように構成したことを特徴とするバックライトユニット。 - 請求項1に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記所定形状は、光を拡散または散乱させるための光学パターンであることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項2に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記光学パターンは、微小な凹凸を有する粗面であることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項3に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記粗面の微小な凹凸の密度が、前記光源の近傍と、前記光源からその光の放出方向に離れた部分とで異なることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
ことを特徴とするバックライトユニット。 - 請求項2に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記光学パターンは、複数のプリズムであることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項5に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記プリズム相互間のピッチが、前記光源の近傍と、前記光源からその光の放出方向に離れた部分とで異なることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項5に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記プリズムのプリズム角が、前記光源の近傍のプリズムと、前記光源からその光の放出方向に離れたプリズムとで異なることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項1に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記所定形状は、前記導光板の光出射面の側面近傍端部に形成されたテーパ形状であることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項1に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記導光板の中央位置が液晶パネルの中央位置と異なることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項1に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記導光板の中央が前記液晶パネルの中央より画面下側に位置することを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 請求項1に記載のバックライトユニットにおいて、前記光源がLEDであることを特徴とするバックライトユニット。
- 光源と、該光源からの光を液晶パネル側に導く導光板とを備え、前記導光板の前記液晶パネルと対向する光出射面から前記液晶パネルに向けて光を出射するように構成されたバックライトユニットであって、
前記導光板の光出射面の面積が液晶パネルの有効表示領域よりも小さく、
前記導光板の光出射面と垂直な側面、及び/または光出射面の該側面近傍の端部に、光を拡散または散乱させるための光学パターンが形成されており、
前記導光板の側面と対向する位置に、前記導光板の背面側から前記液晶パネルに向けて拡がるような形状の反射要素が配置されており、該反射要素により、前記導光板の側面から出射された光を反射して前記液晶パネル側に導くように構成したことを特徴とするバックライトユニット。 - 請求項1〜12のいずれかに記載のバックライトユニットを供えたことを特徴とする映
像表示装置。
