Description
(排ガス浄化触媒の実施の形態)
本発明の排ガス浄化触媒は、アルミナとジルコニアおよびセリアに加え、セリウム以外の希土類元素もしくはアルカリ土類元素からなる群から選択される二種類の元素からなる第一の添加元素酸化物および第二の添加元素酸化物からなる複合酸化物担体と、この複合酸化物担体に担持された貴金属触媒から形成されている。
まず、アルミニウムとジルコニウム、セリウム、および第一の添加元素を含有する共沈物を生成し、得られた共沈物を焼成(たとえば、大気雰囲気等の酸化性雰囲気下、600〜1200℃程度で1〜10時間程度)して各元素の酸化物の混合物を得た後、得られた混合物に第二の添加元素を付着させて焼成し、さらに第二の添加元素酸化物が結合してなる複合酸化物担体を生成する。なお、このような共沈物を得るための溶液としては、アルミニウム、ジルコニウム、セリウム及び第一の添加元素の塩等を水、アルコール等に溶解したものが好適に用いられる。このような塩としては、硫酸塩、硝酸塩、塩酸塩、酢酸塩等が挙げられる。
本発明者等は、以下の方法で実施例および比較例の排ガス浄化触媒の試験材を製作し、各試験材の酸素貯蔵性能(OSC能)と酸素放出性能、耐久性、嵩密度、圧損を特定するとともに、この特定結果に基づいて複合酸化物担体を構成するアルミナとジルコニアそれぞれの最適な含有量範囲、酸化イットリウムの最適な含有量範囲を規定することとした。
実施例、比較例ともに、上記表1で示す含有割合となるように各複合酸化物担体を製作した。具体的には、硝酸アルミニウム9水和物をイオン交換水に溶かした後、オキシ硝酸ジルコニウム2水和物、硝酸セリウム6水和物、硝酸ランタン6水和物、硝酸イットリウム6水和物をそれぞれ所望値となるように混合し、硝酸セリウム中のセリウム量に対して1.2倍モル量の過酸化水素水を加え、攪拌して原料溶液を得た。さらに、NH3水溶液(金属カチオンに対する中和当量の1.2倍量)中にこの原料溶液を攪拌しながら加え、各成分を共沈させて酸化物前駆体を得た(pH9以上でおこなっている)。
試験材の嵩密度の計測に関しては、タッピングによる方法で計測をおこなった。
測定結果を表1の下欄2段、および図1〜4に示している。ここで、図1はアルミナとジルコニアの含有量を変化させた際の排ガス浄化触媒(実施例1、2、比較例1、2)の酸素貯蔵性能(OSC能)および酸素放出性能を検証した実験結果を示す図であり、図2は酸化イットリウムの含有量を変化させた際の排ガス浄化触媒(実施例2〜5、比較例3)の耐久性を検証した実験結果を示す図であり、図3はアルミナの含有量を変化させた際の排ガス浄化触媒(実施例1、2、比較例1、2)の嵩密度を特定した実験結果を示した図であり、図4は実施例2と比較例1の圧損を測定した実験結果を示した図である。
Claims (4)
- アルミナ、ジルコニアおよびセリアと、セリウム以外の希土類元素もしくはアルカリ土類元素からなる群から選択される二種類の元素からなる第一の添加元素酸化物および第二の添加元素酸化物と、からなる複合酸化物担体と、該複合酸化物担体に担持された貴金属触媒と、からなる排ガス浄化触媒であって、
前記複合酸化物担体においては、アルミナが30〜40質量%、ジルコニアが36〜46質量%の範囲で含有されており、
アルミナ、ジルコニアおよびセリアそれぞれの表層の少なくとも一部において前記第二の添加元素酸化物の含有割合が高い濃化領域を形成しており、
前記貴金属触媒には少なくともロジウムが適用されている排ガス浄化触媒。 - 前記複合酸化物担体においては、セリアが20質量%含有され、アルミナとジルコニアとセリアの含有割合の総計が100質量%未満となるようにアルミナとジルコニアの含有割合が前記範囲内で規定されている請求項1に記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
- 前記第一の添加元素酸化物が酸化ランタンであり、前記第二の添加元素酸化物が酸化ネオジムからなる請求項1または2に記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
- 前記複合酸化物担体がさらに酸化イットリウムを9質量%以下の範囲で含んでおり、アルミナ、ジルコニア、セリアと第一の添加元素酸化物および第二の添加元素酸化物および酸化イットリウムの含有割合の総計が100質量%となるようにそれぞれの酸化物の含有割合が規定されている請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
