Description
以下、本実施形態の発光装置について、図1に基づいて説明する。
本実施形態の発光装置の基本構成は実施形態1と略同じであって、図7に示すように、パッケージ用基板40において透光性基板10に対向する一面側に、有機EL素子20の各パッド122,124それぞれとボンディングワイヤ(例えば、金線、アルミニウム線などの金属線)からなる接続部132,134を介して電気的に接続される外部接続電極42,44が形成されている点など相違する。なお、実施形態1と同様の構成要素には同一の符号を付してある。
本実施形態の発光装置の基本構成は実施形態2と略同じであって、図8に示すように、保護部50を第2のガラス基板により構成し、当該ガラス基板からなる保護部50が、パッケージ用基板40を構成するガラス基板に対してフリットガラスからなる接合部80を介して封着されている点などが相違する。なお、実施形態2と同様の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明を省略する。
本実施形態の発光装置の基本構成は実施形態3と略同じであって、図9に示すように、多数の突起31のうちの一部の突起31がスペーサ60を構成している点が相違するだけである。図9では、高さの異なる2種類の突起31が混在しており、高さ寸法の大きい突起31がスペーサ60を構成している。なお、実施形態3と同様の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明する。
本実施形態の発光装置の基本構成は実施形態4と略同じであって、図10および図11に示すように、スペーサ60が凹凸構造部30の突起31とは別の壁状のリブにより構成されている点が相違する。なお、実施形態4と同様の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明を省略する。
図12に示す本実施形態の発光装置の基本構成は実施形態4と略同じであり、有機EL素子20の陽極22と陰極24との両方が透明電極からなり、透光性基板10から遠い第2の電極(図示例では、陰極24)における透光性基板10側とは反対の表面側に、発光層からの光を反射する光反射性部材25を配置してある点が相違する。なお、実施形態4と同様の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明を省略する。

Claims (1)
- 透光性基板と、前記透光性基板の一表面側に形成され陽極と陰極との間に介在する発光層が備えられた有機EL層を有する有機EL素子と、前記透光性基板の他表面側に設けられ前記有機EL素子から放射された光の前記他表面での反射を抑制する凹凸構造部とを備えた発光装置であって、前記透光性基板の前記他表面側に配置され少なくとも一部が透光性材料により形成されたパッケージ用基板と、前記有機EL素子における前記透光性基板側とは反対側を覆い前記有機EL素子への水分の到達を阻止する保護部とを有し、前記パッケージ用基板は、ガラス基板からなり、前記透光性基板は、プラスチック基板からなり、前記保護部は、無機材料の薄膜あるいは、無機材料の薄膜の積層膜で構成されており、前記陽極、前記陰極それぞれは、前記発光層と重ならない部位まで延長して形成してあり、これらの延長された部位の一部が前記保護部により覆われずに露出しており、露出した部位がパッドを構成しており、前記保護部は、前記透光性基板の側縁および前記透光性基板と前記パッケージ用基板とを接合する接合部の側縁を覆うように形成してあることを特徴とする発光装置。
