比較例Bの再分散可能なポリマー粉体はザダウケミカルカンパニー、ミッドランド、ミシガン州により製造された市販の再分散可能なポリマー粉体であるDLP2000である。DLP2000は酢酸ビニル/エチレンコポリマーをベースにする。それは多目的な再分散可能なポリマーであり、10〜14重量%の灰含量、0.375g/ml〜0.525g/mlの密度および2重量%未満の水分含量を有するミディアムハードである。

ブルックフィールド粘度計モデルLVTDV−IIを用いて60rpm、LVスピンドル4および25℃の条件下で、50重量%の固形分含量を有する150gの実施例1のスチレンブタジエン(SB)ラテックス(63.5部のスチレン、28.75部のブタジエン、6部のアクリロニトリルおよび1.75部のイタコン酸のコモノマー含量を有し、2490Åの粒子サイズを有する)と15重量%の固形分含量を有する50gのPVOHコロイド安定化剤MOWIOL4−88との混合物のブルックフィールド粘度が測定された。粘度読み取り値は408cpsであった。
実施例1および2、並びに比較例AおよびBの再分散可能な粉体組成物を使用するセメントベースのモルタル組成物を製造するために使用されうる成分およびその相対量(重量%または重量部、pbw)が以下の表2に示される。表1に示される固体成分を乾燥ブレンドし、次いで水を添加することによって、異なるセメントベースのモルタル組成物が製造されうる。セメントベースのモルタル組成物の様々な特性およびその性能が試験されることができ、結果は以下の図4および表3に示される。
試験方法:
乾燥混合物製造:セメント、砂、ポリマーおよび増粘剤が秤量され、プラスチック袋に入れられ、次いで2分間手で混合され、24時間調整した。

RDPにおけるカルボキシル化の量はRDPの全重量を基準にして0.1重量%〜2.75重量%の範囲である、
水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体。 - 水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーが2,100Å〜3,900Åの平均粒子サイズ、0.5重量%〜2.5重量%のカルボキシル化の量、および28℃未満のガラス転移温度(Tg)を有し、並びに不飽和ジカルボン酸がイタコン酸および/またはマレイン酸である、請求項1に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体。
- 水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーがスチレン、ブタジエン、イタコン酸およびアクリロニトリルのモノマーを含むモノマー混合物から生成するコポリマーである、請求項1に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体。
- コロイド安定化剤が水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーの重量を基準にして、少なくとも1重量%から30重量%以下の量のポリビニルアルコールを含む、請求項1に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体。
- 水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーが2,200Å〜3,500Åの平均粒子サイズ、1重量%〜2重量%のカルボキシル化の量、および25℃未満のガラス転移温度(Tg)を有し、不飽和ジカルボン酸がイタコン酸および/またはマレイン酸であり、並びにコロイド安定化剤が水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーの重量を基準にして、少なくとも1重量%の量のポリビニルアルコールを含む、請求項1に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体。
- 水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体(RDP)を製造する方法であって、
RDPにおけるカルボキシル化の量が、RDPの全重量を基準にして0.1重量%から2.75重量%までの範囲であり、
前記方法は、水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーとコロイド安定化剤との水性混合物を乾燥させて、水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体を得ることを含み、
前記膜形成性ポリマーが−20℃〜30℃のガラス転移温度(示差走査熱量測定を用い、10℃/分の加熱割合で測定したときの中点Tg)、およびレーザー光散乱によって決定される2,000Å〜5,000Åの平均粒子サイズを有し、かつ前記膜形成性ポリマーが、水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーの重量を基準にして、a)20重量%〜79.9重量%のスチレン、b)79.9重量%以下の1,3−ブタジエン、c)0.1重量%〜2.75重量%の少なくとも1種のエチレン性不飽和ジカルボン酸、その無水物および/またはその塩、および任意にd)76重量%までのコモノマーを含有するモノマー混合物の共重合生成物である、
水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体を製造する方法。 - 水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーが2,100Å〜3,900Åの平均粒子サイズ、0.5重量%〜2.5重量%のカルボキシル化の量、および28℃未満のガラス転移温度(Tg)を有し、並びに不飽和ジカルボン酸がイタコン酸および/またはマレイン酸である、請求項6に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体を製造する方法。
- 水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーがスチレン、ブタジエン、イタコン酸およびアクリロニトリルのモノマーを含むモノマー混合物から生成するコポリマーであり、並びにコロイド安定化剤が水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーの重量を基準にして、少なくとも1重量%の量のポリビニルアルコールを含む、請求項6に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体を製造する方法。
- セメント材料と請求項1に記載の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体とを混合することを含む、セメント組成物を製造する方法。
- 1種以上のセラミック形成材料と1種以上の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体とを含むセラミック組成物であって、
前記1種以上の水に再分散可能なポリマー粉体(RDP)が、水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーとコロイド安定化剤との共乾燥混合物を含み、
前記膜形成性ポリマーが−20℃〜110℃のガラス転移温度(示差走査熱量測定を用い、10℃/分の加熱割合で測定したときの中点Tg)、およびレーザー光散乱によって決定される2,000Å〜5,000Åの平均粒子サイズを有し、かつ前記膜形成性ポリマーが、水不溶性の膜形成性ポリマーの重量を基準にして、a)20重量%〜79.9重量%のスチレン、b)79.9重量%以下の1,3−ブタジエン、c)0.1重量%〜2.75重量%の少なくとも1種のエチレン性不飽和ジカルボン酸、その無水物および/またはその塩、および任意にd)76重量%までのコモノマーを含有するモノマー混合物の共重合生成物である、
RDPにおけるカルボキシル化の量が、RDPの全重量を基準にして0.1重量%から2.75重量%までの範囲である、
