Abstract
【解決手段】モニタ1〜4は、LEDバックライトの分割領域毎に対応する表示領域の映像の第1の特徴量を求める画像解析部と、第1の特徴量に応じて分割領域毎にLEDの第1の輝度を定め、LEDの駆動電流の合計値が所定の許容電流値以下となる範囲で、第1の輝度を一律にストレッチするための輝度ストレッチ量を算出する階調制御部とを備える。映像表示装置は、モニタ1〜4から取得した輝度ストレッチ量から最小となる最小輝度ストレッチ量を選択し、選択した最小輝度ストレッチ量を各モニタ1〜4に出力するマイコン19を備える。各モニタ1〜4の階調制御部は、マイコン19から取得した最小輝度ストレッチ量に基づいて、第1の輝度を一律にストレッチして第2の輝度を定める。

Claims (5)
- 複数のモニタにより1つの画面を構成する映像表示装置であって、
各前記モニタは、映像信号を表示する表示パネルと、
該表示パネルを照明する光源としてLEDを使用したバックライトと、
該バックライトを複数の領域に分割し、該分割した領域である分割領域毎に対応する表示領域の映像の第1の特徴量を求める画像解析部と、
該画像解析部で求めた第1の特徴量に応じて、前記分割領域毎にLEDの第1の輝度を定め、さらに、前記分割領域毎の前記第1の輝度に対して、モニタ当りのLEDの駆動電流の合計値が所定の許容電流値以下となる範囲で、前記第1の輝度を一律に高くするための輝度ストレッチ量を算出する階調制御部とを備え、
前記映像表示装置は、各前記モニタから取得した輝度ストレッチ量から最小となる最小輝度ストレッチ量を選択し、該選択した最小輝度ストレッチ量を各前記モニタに出力する制御部を備え、
各前記モニタの階調制御部は、前記制御部から取得した最小輝度ストレッチ量に基づいて、前記第1の輝度を一律に高くして領域毎に第2の輝度を定めることを特徴とする映像表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の映像表示装置において、
各前記モニタの画像解析部は、前記分割領域の映像信号の第1の特徴量に基づいて該分割領域に対応する前記バックライトの点灯率を変化させ、各分割領域の前記バックライトの点灯率を平均することにより前記バックライトの全ての領域についての平均点灯率を求め、
各前記モニタの階調制御部は、前記平均点灯率に予め関係付けられた前記表示パネルの画面上で取り得る最大表示輝度に基づいて前記輝度ストレッチ量を求めることを特徴とする映像表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の映像表示装置において、
各前記モニタの画像解析部は、前記第1の特徴量とは異なる前記映像信号のAPLを求め、
各前記モニタの階調制御部は、前記APLに予め関係付けられた前記表示パネルの画面上で取り得る最大表示輝度に基づいて前記輝度ストレッチ量を求めることを特徴とする映像表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の映像表示装置において、
各前記モニタの階調制御部は、前記最小輝度ストレッチ量に応じた一定倍率を前記第1の輝度に乗算して前記第2の輝度を定め、該第2の輝度の最大輝度から最大LED階調値を求めることを特徴とする映像表示装置。 - 請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の映像表示装置において、
前記第1の特徴量は、前記分割領域内の映像信号の最大階調値であることを特徴とする映像表示装置。
