Description
WO3(透明)+xe-+xM+ ⇔ MxWO3(藍色)
ここで、xは反応係数であり、Mはプロトン(H)、リチウム(Li)、ナトリウム(Na)またはカリウム(K)イオンであり、主として、リチウムイオンが使用される。リチウムイオンがWO3と酸化又は還元反応することにより、エレクトロクロミック効果が生じる。このような無機エレクトロクロミック物質は、真空蒸発、イオンめっき、蒸着及びゾル−ゲル法を含む様々な方法で製造され得る。

ここで、Mはプロトン(H)、リチウム(Li)、ナトリウム(Na)、カリウム(K)、ルビジウム(Rb)、セシウム(Cs)、又はアンモニウム(NH4)イオンであり、リチウムイオンが最も多く使用される。
この工程は次の問題を有する。所望する厚さのコーティング膜を得るために、長時間のコーティング時間が要求される;コーティングしようとする基板を交換しなければならないため、この方法はロールトゥーロール方式の連続工程及び大量生産に適用されない;そして、コーティングが進行するに従って、コーティング溶液の濃度が変わるため、濃度の調節が要求される。特に、広面積にコーティングを行う時は、均一なコーティング膜を得るために、高価な対極のサイズを大きくしなければならない。小さいサイズの対極が使用される場合は、不均一なコーティング膜が得られる。更に、前記電気めっき法は、コーティングしようとする基板と対極との間に均一な電界を供給するための特別な装置が要求される。そして、プルシアンブルー顔料粒子は一般的に不溶性であるため、コーティング溶媒に溶解しないだけでなく、懸濁液又は沈殿物の形態で存在する。従って、コーティングが容易に行われず、更に、粒子のサイズが数〜数十μmの範囲であるため、コーティング後に、良好な可視性を得ることができない。
プルシアンブルー顔料粉末(アルドリッチ社、99.9%)0.65gをアクリル系分散剤であるDisperbyk−2001(BYK)0.13g、無機結合剤としてシリカゾール0.33g、有機溶媒としてエタノール11gと混合し、攪拌器(Red Devil)を利用して分散し、ナノ分散組成物を得た。
前記実施例1で製造されたプルシアンブルーのナノ分散組成物をディップコーティングし、膜を得た。
前記実施例1で製造されたプルシアンブルーのナノ分散組成物をバーコーティングし、膜を得た。
従来の電気めっき法にてプルシアンブルーコーティング膜を製造した。
前記実施例1〜3及び比較例で製造されたプルシアンブルーのコーティング膜を使用して、エレクトロクロミック素子が製造された。その特性を評価して、その結果を下記表1に表した。

Claims (5)
- 透明電極が塗布された光透過基板上にコーティングされたエレクトロクロミック層、透明電極が塗布された他の光透過基板上にコーティングされたイオン貯蔵層、及び前記エレクトロクロミック層とイオン貯蔵層との間に形成された電解質層を含み、前記イオン貯蔵層は、プルシアンブルーを含有するナノ分散組成物を湿式コーティングすることにより製造される、エレクトロクロミック素子の製造方法であって、
前記ナノ分散組成物は、プルシアンブルー顔料100質量部、分散剤0.1〜100質量部、結合剤0.1〜100質量部、及び有機溶媒500〜5,000質量部を含み、
前記分散剤は、ポリアクリル系分散剤であり、
前記結合剤は、無機結合剤であり、
前記有機溶媒は、アルコールである、上記製造方法。 - 前記無機結合剤は、酸化ケイ素、酸化アルミニウム、酸化チタン、酸化タングステン、酸化マンガン、酸化バナジウム、及び酸化セリウムからなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種である、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記有機溶媒は、エタノールである、請求項1又は2に記載の製造方法。
- 前記湿式コーティングは、スピンコーティング、ディップコーティング、バーコーティング、スプレーコーティング、フローコーティング、キャピラリーコーティング、ロールコーティング及びスクリーンコーティングからなる群から選択した方法により行われる、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の製造方法。
- 前記イオン貯蔵層は、平均粒子サイズが10〜200nmであり、コーティングの厚さが50〜1,000nmである、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の製造方法。
