Description
本特許出願は、2005年10月27日に出願され、本願の譲受人に譲渡された「METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING MOBILE BROADBAND WIRELESS LOWER MAC」と題する米国仮特許出願第60/731126号明細書の優先権を主張し、これを明示的に参照により本明細書に援用する。

本開示は、包括的には無線通信に関し、特に、アイドル状態(Idle state)に関して処理する方法及び装置に関する。
無線通信システムは広く普及した手段になっており、無線通信システムによって世界中の大多数の人々が通信するようになっている。無線通信装置は、消費者のニーズを満たし、可搬性及び利便性を向上させるために、より小型且つより強力になっている。携帯電話のような移動装置の処理能力の増大は、無線ネットワーク伝送システムに対する需要の増大に繋がっている。通常、このようなシステムは、そのシステムを介して通信するセルラ装置ほど容易には更新されない。移動装置の能力が拡大するにつれて、無線装置の新規の能力及び改良された能力の十分な利用を促進するように旧式の無線ネットワークシステムを維持することが難しくなる可能性がある。

非アクティブ状態502(初期状態)では、アクセスネットワークはアクティベートコマンドを待ち、アクティベートコマンドを受信した場合に、スリープ状態504に遷移する。
スリープ状態504において、アクセスネットワークは、受信したすべてのOpenConnectionコマンドを待ち行列に入れ(queue)、監視状態506においてそれらコマンドを実行する。
アクセスネットワークは、TCMAC.UATIReceivedインジケーションが受信された場合にBindUATI状態508に遷移する。
定期的に、アクセスネットワークは、OpenConnectionコマンドを実行するために、監視状態506に遷移する。監視状態506において、アクセスネットワークは、TCMAC.UATIReceivedインジケーションをリスン(listen)し、ユニキャストパケットをアクセス端末に送信する。
アクセスネットワークは、TCMAC.UATIReceivedインジケーションが受信された場合にBindUATI状態508に遷移する。
定期的に、アクセスネットワークはスリープ状態504に遷移する。
BindUATI状態508において、アクセスネットワークは、ConnectionStatus=0であるConnectionOpenResponseメッセージを受信した場合に、非アクティブ状態502に遷移する。
アクセスネットワークは、ConnectionStatus=1であるConnectionOpenResponseメッセージを受信した場合、又はForwardTrafficChannelMAC.UATIReceivedインジケーションを受信した場合に、監視状態506に遷移する。
スリープ状態504、監視状態506、又はBindUATI状態508にあるときに非アクティベートコマンド(deactivate command)が受信される場合、アクセスネットワークは非アクティブ状態502に遷移する。
スリープ状態504、監視状態506、またはBindUATI状態508にあるときにクローズコマンドを受信した場合、アクセスネットワークはスリープ状態504に遷移する。
602において、プロセスは、IdleState.Activateコマンドを発行することで始まる。

- 無線通信システムにおいてアクセスネットワークによってアイドル状態を処理する方法であって、
IdleState.Activateコマンド及びActiveSetManagement.Activateコマンドを発行することと、
IdleState.Activateコマンド及びActiveSetManagement.Activateコマンドを発行した後に、IdelState.ConnectionFailedインジケーション又はReverseTrafficChannelMAC.SupervisionFailedインジケーションをアクセスネットワークが受信したか否かを判断するとともに、該判断に基づいてReverseControlChannel.Deactivateコマンドを発行することと
を含む、方法。 - IdleState.Closeコマンドを発行することと、
ReverseTrafficChannel.Deactivateコマンドを発行することと、
ReverseControlChannelMAC.Deactivateコマンドを発行することと、
