Description
具体的に、図7に示されるように、領域P31,P32,P33の画素に対しては、本来の輝度レベル135の点灯パターン(SF8およびSF3〜SF1を点灯し、SF7〜SF4を非点灯)から、周囲の領域の輝度とほぼ同じ明るさとなる輝度レベル128の点灯パターン(SF8を点灯し、SF7〜SF1を非点灯)に変化させるようになっている。すなわち、同一階調入力に対して領域P1と領域31,P32,P33とで点灯パターンを変えることによって輝度差を吸収するようになっている。換言すると、同じ輝度レベルの信号を入力して表示させる場合において、ライン負荷率に応じて1フィールド内でのサブフィールドの点灯パターンを変化させるようになっている。これにより、図5(b)に示されるように、領域P1と領域31,P32,P33とは同じ明るさになる。
前記共通の駆動電極毎に、表示される画像に応じて明るさに関連する関数量を算出し、
該算出された関数量に基づいて、前記共通の駆動電極により駆動される前記所定数の画素または所定の表示領域に表示される画像の明るさを補正することを特徴とする画像表示装置の駆動方法。
表示パネルにおける任意の画素に対して、同じ輝度レベルの信号を入力して表示させる場合において、当該画素を含むラインのライン負荷率を算出する負荷算出手段と、
1フィールド内でのサブフィールドの点灯パターンを変化させて輝度を補正する補正手段と、を備えることを特徴とする画像表示装置。
1つの駆動電極に接続された複数の画素毎に、その負荷率を算出する負荷算出手段と、
前記負荷算出手段の出力に基づいて、入力映像信号の輝度レベルの降下量を算出して補正する輝度補正手段と、を備えることを特徴とする画像表示装置。
複数の画素を有する表示パネルにおける所定数の画素毎または所定の表示領域毎に共通の駆動電極で駆動する画像表示装置であって、
前記共通の駆動電極毎に、表示される画像に応じて明るさに関連する関数量を算出する算出手段と、
該算出手段の出力に基づいて、前記共通の駆動電極により駆動される前記所定数の画素または所定の表示領域に表示される画像の明るさを補正する補正手段と、を備えることを特徴とする画像表示装置。

Claims (3)
- 1フィールドを複数のサブフィールドに分割して表示するプラズマディスプレイパネルの表示方法において、
入力画像信号に基づいて1表示ライン毎の負荷率に対応するライン負荷率データを算出し、
1表示ラインに属する画素の入力輝度レベルの偏差に対応する偏差データを算出し、
前記ライン負荷率データと前記偏差データとに基づいて、前記入力画像信号のゲイン調整に対応する輝度補正処理により1表示ライン毎に明るさの補正を行って表示する表示方法であって、
前記輝度補正処理は、
前記ライン負荷率データが大きいラインの画素に対する前記ゲイン調整のためのゲイン係数よりも、前記ライン負荷率データが小さいラインの画素に対する前記ゲイン係数を小さくし、
前記偏差データが大きいラインの画素に対する前記ゲイン係数よりも、前記偏差データが小さいラインの画素に対する前記ゲイン係数を大きくするように処理することにより、
同一画面内の異なる表示ラインである第1のラインと第2のラインにおいて、
前記第1のラインの方が前記第2のラインよりも前記ライン負荷率データが大きい場合に、前記第1のラインに含まれる第1の画素と前記第2のラインに含まれる第2の画素の各々に対応する前記入力画像信号の輝度レベルが同じであった場合においても、前記第1の画素に対応する前記複数のサブフィールドの点灯パターンを決定する点灯用輝度レベルを前記第2の画素に対応する前記点灯用輝度レベルよりも大とし、
前記第1のラインと前記第2のラインとで前記ライン負荷率データが同じであって、前記第1のラインの方が前記第2のラインよりも前記偏差データが大きい場合に、前記第1のラインに含まれる第3の画素と前記第2のラインに含まれる第4の画素の各々に対応する前記入力画像信号の輝度レベルが同じであった場合においても、前記第3の画素に対応する前記点灯用輝度レベルを前記第4の画素に対応する前記点灯用輝度レベルよりも小とするようにライン毎の補正を行うことにより画像の明るさを補正して表示することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの表示方法。 - 請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの表示方法であって、
更に、前記入力画像信号に基づいて1画面分の負荷率に対応する画面全体の画面負荷率データを算出し、
前記画面負荷率データが所定レベル以上の場合にのみ明るさの補正を行って表示するようにしたことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの表示方法。 - 請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの表示方法であって、
前記所定レベルは、自動電力制御が活性化される、前記画面負荷率データの値であることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの表示方法。
