Claims (4)
- 複数のサブフィールドを用いて映像の表示を行うプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法であって,
前記サブフィールドはサステイン期間を有し,前記サステイン期間において,
立ち上がりにおいて1回の放電を生じさせる第1のサステインパルスと,前記第1のサステインパルスのパルス幅よりも広いパルス幅を有し,立ち上がりにおいて第1の電圧を印加後,前記第1の電圧よりも高い第2の電圧を印加することにより2回の放電を生じさせる第2のサステインパルスを印加し,
前記第1のサステインパルス及び前記第2のサステインパルスを繰り返し印加するサステイン期間を有するサブフィールドにおいて,映像の表示負荷率が大きくなり総サステインパルス数が減少した場合,前記第1のサステインパルスを前記第2のサステインパルスに置き換える割合を大きくすると共に,
前記第2のサステインパルスに置き換え可能なサステインパルス数と,前記複数のサブフィールドの輝度比に従って,各サブフィールドでの前記第2のサステインパルスに置き換えるサステインパルス数を決めるように制御することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。 - 前記第1の電圧を印加する期間は,前記第2の電圧を印加する期間よりも短く,前記2回の放電を連続して生じさせることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。
- 前記映像の表示負荷率が,サステインパルス数を一定値とした時に電力制御による上限の電力値となる第1の所定の値よりも小さい場合,前記サステイン期間において繰り返し印加されるサステインパルスを前記第2のサステインパルスに置き換えることなく全て第1のサステインパルスとすることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置の駆動方法。
- 前記第2のサステインパルスは前記第1のサステインパルスよりも輝度の大きいことを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれかに記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置に駆動方法。
