Description
図1は本実施例に係る液晶表示装置910の斜視構成図(一部断面図)である。液晶表示装置910は、アクティブマトリクス基板101と対向基板912とをシール材923により一定の間隔で貼り合わせ、ネマティック相液晶材料922を挟持した液晶パネル911を備える。アクティブマトリクス基板101上には図示しないがポリイミドなどからなる配向材料が塗布されラビング処理されて配向膜が形成されている。また、対向基板912は、図示しないが画素に対応したカラーフィルタと、光抜けを防止し、コントラストを向上させるための低反射・低透過率樹脂よりなるブラックマトリクス940と、アクティブマトリクス基板101上の対向導通部330−1〜330−2と短絡される共通電位が供給されるITO膜でなる対向電極930が形成される。ネマティック液晶材料922と接触する面にはポリイミドなどからなる配向材料が塗布され、アクティブマトリクス基板101の配向膜のラビング処理の方向とは直交する方向にラビング処理されている。
図20は第2の実施例にかかわる配線RST電位のタイミングチャートである。なお、図の見やすさを優先して、縮尺は一定でない。本実施例ではRST信号がHigh(5V)となって第1の検出期間が始まるパルスPS1と、第2の検出期間の始まるパルスPS2の間隔は102m秒である。次に第3の検出期間の始まるパルスPS3はパルスPS2の99m秒後である。また次に第4の検出期間の始まるパルスPS4はパルスPS3の105m秒後である。次に第5の検出期間の始まるパルスPS5はパルスPS4の102m秒後に戻り、以降、306m秒周期でこれらの動作が繰り返される。
本発明は実施例の形態に限定されるものではなく、あらゆる種類の光センサーを備えた機器に適用してよい。特に屋内で使用される可能性のある電子機器には効果が大きい。
Claims (8)
- 基板上に形成され、前記基板周辺の外光照度を測定するための光センサーと、
前記光センサーに接続されて前記外光照度に対応して出力を行なう検出回路を備え、
前記検出回路は、前記光センサーからの入力に基づき前記外光照度検出動作を複数回行い、
前記複数回の検出動作の第1の検出動作と、前記第1の検出動作に引き続いて行なわれる第2の検出動作の時間間隔をT1とすると、
前記時間間隔T1は、nを任意の整数としたとき、1/100秒の(n+0.5)倍、もしくは1/120秒の(n+0.5)倍、もしくは両者の中間に設定され、
前記検出回路の出力を偶数回サンプリングして統計処理を行なう回路を有する
ことを特徴とする半導体装置。 - 前記第2の検出動作と、
前記前記第2の検出動作に引き続いて行なわれる第3の検出動作の時間間隔をT2とすると、
前記時間間隔T1と前記時間間隔T2は互いに相違することを特徴とする
請求項1に記載の半導体装置。 - 前記光センサーは前記外光照度を電流に変換する素子であり、前記検出回路は前記光センサーが接続されたノードの一端を前記検出周期の開始毎に初期電位にリセットし、前記ノードの電位変化を検出することで前記検出動作を行なう回路である
ことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の半導体装置。 - 前記ノードの電位が所定の電位に達するまでの時間に基づいて前記基板周辺の外光照度を測定する
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の半導体装置。 - 前記光センサーは薄膜ポリシリコンを用いたPIN接合ダイオードもしくはPN接合ダイオードである
ことを特徴とした請求項1から請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の半導体装置。 - 請求項1から請求項5のいずれか一項に記載の半導体装置を用いた表示装置。
- 前記時間間隔T1は表示の書き換えを行なう周期であるフレーム周期の整数倍である
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の表示装置。 - 請求項6または請求項7に記載の表示装置を用いた電子機器。
